Flickering 2

How is your card connected to the monitor? If it's by VGA cable then it's almost certainly cable interference which I had myself, only cured it by using a DVI cable.

If you're running a DVI cable already then I've no idea what it is.

If you're using a DVI adapter with a VGA cable I would guarentee the adapter or cable are at fault. Assuming this is feint horizontal lines/flickers over the screen? If so it's exactly what I had, and caused by interference of an analogue singal, where as DVI connections (proper ones without adapters) and HDMI connections don't suffer this problem.

Yeah thats exactly the kind of lines im getting. Could you suggest a cable avaible at Ocuk that could fix this problem ? A Link would be appreciated.

Also, can you answer this. If we used both adapters at my friends house and both monitors, how come im getting the lines ?

I can't suggest a cable, but choose one with triple (or advertised) shielding and ferrite cores which both reduce interference on VGA cables. The only real way to remove interference is to get a DVI or HDMI compatible monitor.

With regards to your last question, have you tried all possible monitor combinations available to you AND used the known good wires that your friend uses to get a clear picture? I only noticed funny lines on my screen when I went from an 8800GT to a 4870 which used more power, and I'm pretty sure the higher the power the PSU is pulling the worse the interference is.

Good luck on fixing the problem, and I hope you don't have to resort to buying a new DVI/HDMI monitor to fix the problem.

I brought my cable and my adapter. First we tried his adapter and his monitor, no lines. then tried his adapter and my monitor, no lines. then my cable and my adapter, no lines.

His monitor is the same res as mine.
Also we tested his PSU at my house, which is 750W corsair, ive got a coolermaster 550W.

Possibly there is some kind of interference only at your house, some other electrical equipment or something that only affects the signal where your PC is located. If possible try and take your PC tower over to your friends and retest the system there. Would also be worth trying your system on a DVI monitor, if you have a DVI connector on your monitor get hold of a cheap cable I think the one I'm currently using cost £2 and the picture is crystal clear.

Cant bring the tower unfortunately, he's not home for another month.
Dont know anyone except him that has a gaming PC, and worse dont know anyone with a DVI monitor.

Id like to know for sure what this is before I waste money on a monitor that will do the job same as this one but still show lines tbh, and at friends yeah, with adapter and everything I had no lines like I said.

So what cable do I need ? DVI to VGA ?

On your current setup it looks like you could just require a well shielded standard VGA cable with ferrite cores on each end, but to rule out the problem with interference needs you to try your computer in a different location. Maybe even try the computer in a different place in your house? Without trying other stuff it'll be hard to locate whether it's to do with the type of cable you're using or something else, but it certainly sounds exactly like the problem I had.

I can't really advise you any further than trying another better shielded VGA cable, trying a different socket in your house to plug the computer into, trying your computer at your friends, or using a DVI/HDMI lead on a DVI/HDMI compatible monitor/LCD TV at your house.
