Not sure if this is new to everyone or I'm just late to the migration but the new interface seems much less dated than the old. Feels like FlickStackr on the iPad/iPhone which I've been a big fan of for some time.

How is everyone else finding it?

First thing I noticed was the 1TB of storage

I've not been using flickr (or my camera for that matter) lately but it does look like a massive improvement on the old interface. Almost has a bit of a Windows Metro look to it.

I quite like it myself, gives me hope for their Tumblr buyout. Still don't think I'll use Flickr much since the userbase is 99% photographers. Would make for a good place to back stuff up though.

99% photographers? Not sure what you mean. Most of the pictures on there are just snapshots not pro stuff.

Most people on there have some interest in photography (be it snapshots, advanced amateurs, or pros). Everyone who follows me on Flickr is a photographer, compare that to my Tumblr followers where I have curators, journalists, painters, writers, graphic designers, musicians, fashion designers, and ordinary people. A far more diverse list and I get more interesting questions as a result of that. The homogeneity of the Flickr community puts me off because I'd rather post photos here if I wanted other photographers to look at my work, at least I'd get better feedback too. The 1TB would be great for backup though, which is what I'll probably end up turning my account into.

New look and 1tb sounds great but seriously check out the cost if you want to go ad-free or if you need more storage.

If you need more than 1tb................wait for it..........

$499.99 :confused::eek:

Are flickr serious?

It's a dig at 500px in layout and execution. All for the better because the group and community focused Flickr is better supported and featured in those areas.

I have (had!) Flickr Pro account and have a 500px Plus account. In Flickr at least when people post comments they usually post a stamp to show where they saw the post so you can clickthrough and join that group. On 500px it's just comments like "awesome, if you have time plz browse my latest pics!!!" or words to that effect.

I'll still use both as 500px is relatively new and has time to grow but Flickr has more to offer now more than ever before and it's free so no more pro account needed.

As for the $500 price if you want more storage. That is fine, if someone is uploading that much work then they're working professionally and will go for it. Serious videographers will use Vimeo/Youtube.

Hadn't realized they had done away with the pro account. Mine doesn't expire until late 2014! Understand the new paid for option is 'ad-free' although not seen the differences as yet in regards to how obtrusive the ads are.

Well it will take a little getting used to & Yahoo are getting a right kicking on the Flickr forums:D. Personally i will have to get used to it as i have over 13000 photo`s on there so im a bit stuck if i don't like the new Flickr!

The only thing I have to say it's about time they removed the white background around the images. I can't tell you enough how much that bugged me to have images boarded with eye burning white! Argh! AT LAST!

Hate the new format. I also bought pro account in March, what a waste of money, are they refunding people now that they have made it free?

Do you have link regarding this at all?

Thanks.

I don't understand, on my email it says

As a Pro Member, your subscription remains the same. You'll enjoy unlimited space for your photos and videos, detailed stats and an ad-free experience. However, you can switch to a Free account before August 20, 2013.

So what's the deal? Do I loose my pro acc?

Some nice changes there.

My ISP is BT Internet and one of the advantages of that is that you have a free Flickr Pro account - well actually you can have 10 Flickr Pro accounts since you can have up to 9 additional email addresses linked off your main email account :)

The difference between a Pro account and the new free accounts is that the Pro account has unlimited storage and can exceed the 1Tb limit imposed on the free account.

The Pro account also gets stats and can display where people are visiting from.

The Pro account is limited to uploading image sizes of 50MB and video sizes of 500MB - the free account gets to upload 200mb file sizes!

If you want to see what the new model means for Pro users you can take a look at
