My brother who is 75 has a basic Win 7 pc. Not connected to the internet. Runs really well.

He wants a flight sim. He has an old one on the pc vista compatible...lol.

He wants a decent one he can try. He has a nice USB joystick...

Any recommendations guys? He be so pleased if I can source a Win 7 compatible one. Fighting or sim be fine...ta

Xplane 10 or Microsoft FSX will both work, although he'll need the dvd version of xplane I think, the download version needs the Internet to check the license every couple of weeks.

I think these were the latest versions that officially support windows 7. There was a more modern release of fsx on steam, with better textures and stuff, which holds up pretty well today, but that would obviously need the internet.

Does he have a decent GPU?
Not sure...it's an old PC. Runs well though....except I got to keep fixing issue at boot up where it says error in boot drive. I fix it, save and exit yet it still pops up when we turn on the pc...

I put a new battery on the mobi too as I thought that was the issue...

Now, he has to keep pressing F2 to load defaults and continue to Windows 7

Might be worth checking the health of that boot drive - I assume it's a SSD.

No that still sounds like battery or the clear CMOS jumper is in the wrong position
It could be worth replacing the battery again, or at least checking the voltage of it, while you're checking the position of the Clear CMOS jumper.

If the hard drive is working and the SMART data shows no signs of trouble, I'd maybe consider leaving it until SSD prices come back down. A DRAM-less 1 TB is around £100 these days, which is a lot of money for a near-budget drive. :(
