" ok so today i installed FSX..no problem then i fire it up and go into the settings and set aircaft quality to high in the depslay settings. go back into the game and the aircraft quality is still on low...i've tryed resting computer no luck what else can i try"

I don't know if it'll work in FSX, I refuse to buy rushed out, unfinished and bugged software, but it works in FS2004.

Once he's got the settings to his liking, navigate to the fsx.cfg and make it read only. The only downside is that he'll have to change it back again when he wants to change any settings.
