Hey all,

I've been having trouble running Flight Simulator X on Windows 7 for a while now. Basically, it works perfectly up to a certain point - I take off, I fly to my destination, make the final turn and I'm lined up for my approach and then of all moments in the flight, it crashes.

A window appears "A fatal error has occured" etc. etc. and it crashes to desktop (As it crashes to desktop, the sound also loops and so I have to restart the computer :()

This is definitely a Windows 7 problem, as I ran it on Windows Vista on my other hard drive (on the same system) and it works perfectly (I don't really want to have to keep swapping between Vista and 7 everytime I want to fly :p)

I've tuned the graphics, updated my graphics card drivers...

Does anyone know of a fix for me?

Thanks,

Marky

I've been running FSX in Win7 32 and 64 bit over the last few months without those sort of issues, so it can work.

One assumes you've done the obvious things and have installed the 2 service packs or Acceleration. Are you running any third party planes or scenery? Are you using ILS and that triggers the issue?

I've installed the two service packs no problem but I don't have the expansion pack...

The only add on I currently have installed is FS Passengers X - I haven't tried the game without it enabled yet - so I might give it a go!

I've tried it on both ILS and the other option (can't quite remember what it's called!) but still the same issue...

When FSX crashes look in your event viewer for an error with UIAutomationCore.dll as this is a common issue with windows 7

google this error for some insight, some people have found using a UIautomationcore.dll from an fsx install from a vista machine has resolved the issue.

Hey guys,

I did a bit more searching and found some information on the DLL that Wizzkidy suggested - and it's now finally fixed :D

I just grabbed the UIAutomationCore.dll from a website - threw it in my FSX directory - and everything was good :D

Thanks for the help guys :D See you in the air ;) :p
