Flight Simulator X

Might be slightly off topic, but has anyone tried Lockheed Martin's version of FSX? I haven't been following it for a while: http://www.prepar3d.com/

At the time it was supposed to be a more optimised FSX, I even remember some saying the addons like REX still worked on it. Not sure if that is the case though..

EDIT: Sorry seems someone else already mentioned it, must've missed it!

Prepar3d is meant for commercial use only, training solutions etc and so they're not marketing to the public. From what I understand though Aviation proffesionals and students can get it, however for most of us using FSX we've spent too much on add-ons to jump ship, although some developers are making their add-ons compatible with prepar3d.

robfosters and soya, how do you record from FSX?

With regards to Prepar3D, it's touted at FSX with bug fixes, the academic licence is also for home use and FSX bits are supposed to work. BUT ifly is selling an 'upgrade' for the 737NG for Prepar3D. Why is this?

ifly sell a prepar3d version to coincide with their proffessional edition of the software, which is being used increasingly in fixed based training sims.

It's all licensing and legal nonsense. Technically unless you're a commercial training centre or a student enrolled on a certain type of course you can't use Prepar3d at all and it most certainly can't be used for "entertainment purposes". How many people do you think abide by that? ;)

It's leagues ahead of FSX in terms of stability and is in constant development so it's well worth looking into if you're serious about simming and pretty much all addons work (PMDG products do not, yet) with a free little installer tool - only for students though, not for entertainment! :p

Finished training mission 4 on a HOTAS, little bit difficult.. should I purchase the ORBX and graphics mods? It's looking like a ps2 game.

Got it working fullscreen, needed to use DX9 instead of 10. Runs well with everything put to max and it looks pretty good.

Approaching the Lake District..
