Flood detection

Could you please help me with several issues? I rent a house and it is quite old. I am worried about its plumbing system. My landlord does want to replace all the communications there. He says they are reliable and new. But they are not. I called for a specialist who checked everything. He said it needs replacement. The landlord does think so and there is no way to make him act the right way. I am going to live in this house for at least a year more. I want to put the flood sensors to be notified of any problem if I am at work. What company can deal with that? I have heard about Ajax, but I need more alternatives to compare.

Have you tried talking to your insurance company, they may have leak detection schemes in place
Some insurers offer that now, I noticed that when looking to renew my premiums this year.

Are you talking about the standard of the plumbing? How does "communications" come into it?
As has been pointed out above, I take it you have omitted the all important "not"?
Who was this "specialist" who "checked everything" and "said it needs replacement"? Has he given you a written report of his findings?

I suspect that you are talking about plumbing leaks rather than flooding from outside? Have you noticed leaks from any of the plumbing?

I really can't see that you have given and explanation any justification for your concerns but I would suggest that you send a registered letter to your landlord expressing your concerns and asking him to confirm that he has insurance that will cover the consequences of any major (or even minor) leaks.

you can get battery operated leak detectors on ebay. You place the "head" where the water is likely to be and it'll beep if it detects a leak/water. Fairly simple, but effective.

Solution is simple. Go to the beach and get a sizeable, but smooth pebble. Get a small coffee table and position it in the middle of your living room and place the pebble on top of it. That's it. If you return home and the pebble is dry you're not flooded, if it's wet then you have a problem.
