Floppy Problem

In the middle of my first system build and have just come to the point where I'm installing the O/S (Vitsa 64 bit). I'm setting up a RAID 0 disk array and have set this up in the BIOS in preperation. To cut a long story short, I need to create the drivers for the O/S, so I've booted the PC from the ASUS support CD and this brings up a nice menu to create the required drivers to floppy. I put a floppy in the FD, select the required driver creation option and then I get:

Error reading from Drive A: DOS area: drive not ready

Followed by the usual Abort, Ignore etc opts.

I can see/hear that the drive is attempting to access the floppy, and I've tried putting other floppies in the drive to see if they can be read. All return the same error.

Am I missing something here? I've checked cables and the BIOS (not that there's much to check) and can't see where I'm going wrong.

Any ideas?

Floppy light isn't constantly on is it?
No, light just comes on when attempting to access the floppy for a few seconds.

I thought I'd be in for some stick posting this. I appreciate that FD's are pretty much old school, but then again so am I. Just though that for me it would be the easiest option to help me get my PC up and running, even if I never use it again after, especially as they are so cheap. Well bang went that theory :( .
