Florence

Plenty to see in Florence and if you take a leisurely approach, will easily fill 2 or 3 days. Gotta be one of the most beautiful and welcoming cities I've ever visited (and I've been to like 6 or 7 cities).

Florence is lovely not sure i’d take a 12 year old unless she is into art and history as those are the main attractions!

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought of this Florence.

:D Ah good memories coming home from school for a bit of The Magic Roundabout.

OP I've never been but went to Verona and Milan last year and the folks we stayed with in Verona highly recommended Florence but it was a little far to get. My cousin who was in the Navy and did a fair bit of travelling also said Florence was one of the best places he's been to.

We ate at a place called Trattoria Anita which was this little family run place in the back streets behind the Uffizi. It was full of Italian families eating there and was very good. That said food in general is good even on the main streets, we ate several times around Piazza del Duomo and it was always good.

Make sure you go see Basilica di San Lorenzo, inside is incredible. Uffizi was good but it can drag on, the Medici were quite the hoarders.

You also have to see David of Michelangelo at the Galleria dell'Accademia. Again as the Uffizi book online as it gets insanely busy but you're there, you have to see it.
