QUOTED :

" The devs at oZone3D have now delivered the first version of FluidMark, a physics benchmark that is based on Nvidia's PhysX engine and measures the physics processing capabilities of CPUs, Ageia cards and graphics cards. The visual portion of the benchmark requires a OpenGL 2.0 compliant graphics card so it will work with GeForce FX/6/7/8/9/GTX200 (and higher), AMD/ATI Radeon 9600+, 1k/2k/3k/4k (and higher) and S3 Graphics Chrome 400 series models.

To run FluidMark you also need the PhysX 8.08.01 or above driver. "

Laptop seems to be having problems with it. Running in ppu mode, it's dog slow. Running in gpu mode its smooth but final score is less than half my desktop.

I did a run with it,

physxfluid.jpg

0AA, 1280*1024. 177.79 beta drivers and 8.7.18 PhysX drivers.

So what do I need to get this to run on an ATI system then?

No idea, the story goes it was some Nvidia employee who got them to run on a ATI card so obv he is well clued up.

Nvidia have offered ATI free use of them but I think they declined and want to go the Havok route (not 100% sure TBH).

But it states:

"AMD/ATI Radeon 9600+, 1k/2k/3k/4k or higher"

What's the point if you can't run it cause the only driver available is a Nvidia one?

i hope there's some sort of 3rd party AMD physx thing as the ATI gpus are perfectly capable of this.

And you can run it with an ati card, but it does software physx which doesn't use the 3d card at all, just the CPU.

And will the Nvidia Physx drivers install on my ATI system?

Just want to know before wasting the time downloading at 45Mb file

1700 points on my m1730 with the ppu
4300 points on my m1730 with the gpu

:o What a pointless card, I'm going to take it out. :D

Desktop pulls 7400 :) (3.6+88gtx)

FPS: min=45 max=400 avg=77 = Physx ON

FPS: min=5 max=326 avg=20 = Physx OFF

Quite a big difference in frame rate.
