Flushing radiators -

I used masking tape to attach a tube to my bath tap from the radiator, left it running for about an hour then shook the crap out of it to get the water out, left it next to another radiator for some heat/love to dry up then placed it back in my loop.

Probably some more careful steps you can take but meh :p

I put boiled water in there and let it cool till i can touch it. Then i seal up the rad with plugs and do the 'Crazy clear the radiator shaking dance' for a few minutes. Then i empty it out and do this till no silvery particles come out (usually 2/3 times).

Then a final flush of distilled or deionized (would go for distilled if you don't use pre-mix or biocides).

Remember that is de-ionised and not distilled. For flushing its fine but if you use it as coolant, kill coil or bio-cide would be a must if you plan on leaving the coolant in for a long time, rather than replacing it regularly.

In almost all uses, distilled and deionised are interchangeable but if you don't use biocide and plan to use it as coolant, distilled will have no organic matter, while deionised water can do, due to organic materials being able to survive the process of making deionised water.

Ill have mayhems in my loop I just need to get something to flush it with :p.

Its worth noting, and this may seem like a stupid thing to even warn against but seriously...

DO NOT BLOW THROUGH YOUR RADIATOR VIA A TUBE!!!

It may for some reason seem like that would be a good idea to push water out or whatever but DONT DO IT!

Basically you risk adding nasties to the interior of what your blowing into. So yea dont do it :P

Ive used distilled, deionzed and water out the tap. All around 2 years each with biocide. No problems at all, tbh the deionzied and distilled thing is just for making money. I didnt use it and my normal tap water was crystal clear and no buildup of anything.

Now if you get some on one of your components they are fried. Distilled water has saved my old gtx 580 when my radiator had a tiny leak in the fins which needed a few days to build up enough to drip. But then again, graphics cards are just sold for making money and i dont really need one to game :D

Also had pastel red mayhems go on my PC and develop a puddle while it was on before noticing. Puddle was only a few cm wide on my Wifi card and a bit on the GPU but it didn't matter as it was fine even though it had been on for several hours. It passed leak testing but a split O-ring caused small leaks after i moved an angle fitting aside after leak testing was done.

Because i use only distilled/deionised water for flushing and i only use non conductive liquids for watercooling, i have never suffered a short circuit due to leaking.

Given that deionized water costs something like £1/L, I can't see it being 'just for making money'

Not to mention that tap water isn't consistent, and the purity will vary heavily depending on the source and your plumbing.

Plumbing and water is just a waste of money, i just use pee, as it is sterile, contains no algae spores and comes in a variety of colours from almost crystal to golden yellow. Natural biocides like ammonia keep it in check and it comes with its own hose to avoid spills...

Seriously though, you fork out 200-400 for WCing (and even more for the PC) and you dont want to spend a few quid (every few years) on de-ionised to avoid component damage like short circuits. I think you might want to check the balance books for your house because somewhere along the line, your PC funds seemed to have dried up.

thats true, its worth it. personally i wouldnt buy mayhems h2o just to flush and then throw away though, might aswell just use ordinary di-ionised water for half the price. its only purpose is to flush, i dont think that is the intended use for mayhems.
