Flushing the radiator.

I would still give it a couple of flushes just to be safe. Tip the water from the rad into a glass jug/bowl to see if anything comes out.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I intended too.

Be silly not to at least give it a few flushes to make sure.

Thanks again.

Kate.

That XSPC email is hog wash, I built a system for someone recently and flushed the XSPC rads and all sorts of black bits came out!

Exactly the same experience for me. I bought two rads from different manufacturers. One was XSPC and the other was EKWB. The EKWB one was pretty clean and very little came out. The XSPC one was absolutely FULL of crap and took ages to run clear.

I just want to double check before I put it in the radiator.

The vinegar needed is distilled barley malt vinegar?

Thanks.

The stuff i used to use was distilled malt vinegar, no idea if its the right stuff but it did the job and was very cheap as i bought the supermarket own brand. Its just a bit of acid to eat away some grime in your rads, a bit like when you put a coin into some juice overnight and it comes out all shiny.

If your worried about stuff you've read on the net then just use the mayhems blitz ,it will have been thoroughly tested so it takes all the guessing out of it. Although i dont think people who do water cooling are generally the worrying type as putting a home made waterloop into a box full of electrics would probably put them off the idea.

Cheers.

I'm not worried about the mechanics, I'm comfident in my ability once I get started but the things I don't know like vinegars, I have to double check.

Thanks again.

If the rad isn't part of the loop yet (outside the case), I flush with hot tap water.
If the rad is all hooked up to the loop, I flush the system with car plan de-ionised.
I fill and run the system with Mayhems Ultra Pure with a dash of XT1 clear.

I use clear fluid as I can view all the components at any time. Sure, coloured coolant is pretty but let's be honest there's usually only one person looking at it. :D

Thanks.

Clear distilled water with a silver kill coil or two is all I want.

The case, fans, reservoir, waterblock, sound card, GPU and now motherboard have enough LED's that I don't need colour from the liquid as well.

Thanks.
