Can anyone recommend some software which will convert a video file to an FLV without reducing the quality of the video?

Got ahead of myself (used Handbrake to change all the FLV to MP4!)

Before that I used Super Video convertor (for FLV)

should be able to do it in ffmpeg, and play around with the quality settings to get what you are after.

Thanks for this!

I have had a quick look and it seems great, but the inbuilt player does not work and I'm unable to run in VLC or find a suitable FLV player.

I've downloaded this but there is no instruction on how to run it. It's just a download with a list of files and folders, not sure how it works.

Just as an FYI, Flash Player supports the h264 format now in videos with either .f4v or .mp4 extensions.

Check out Adobe Media Encoder as another encoder option

The following should help get you set up with using ffmpeg:

Have you tried VLC to convert the file.

I have used VLC to convert videos and captures streams.
