Fly and drive to vegas then san Francisco

Right, I meant from LAS Vegas To Grand canyon then onto Yosemite!!!!!! FFS! :D

You are best off just booking a tour from Las Vegas North airport. It is a 45 minute flight to Grand Canyon Airport and then you get a 2 hour or so tour of the best bits. You then fly back. Takes up an afternoon and is massively more convenient than the long drive to the Canyon and back.

I did this route for my honeymoon last October ( well we did LA to SD), so if there's anything you want to ask fire away! We also did the plane trip to the Grand Canyon from LV.

Planning this trip in June/July this year.

Fly to Vegas stay 3 nights then Drive to san francisco...can anyone recommend any websites for booking etc...

Cheers

EDIT:

There has been a change of plan. We now plan to fly to LA, stay a couple of nights in a Hotel, Then drive to Las vegas.

The main change is that we are now looking at hiring an RV/Campervan and doing a road trip and take in Yosemite National park

Below is the planned route: Notice point A is under point E on the map as thats are start and finish point

From Yosemite national Park before checking out the Grand Canyon we plan to drive to San Francisco then form SF drive up the coastal road back to LA then fly home.

We are looking at renting a smallish Camper or motorhome...Any input or advise welcome.:)

the onyl thing I will say that is a must is form Vegas head more or less due west to hit highway 395 after going throgh Death Valley. Then follow hway 395 up to the 120 into Yosemite. The 395 is amazing to drive.

Make sure to stop at mono lake and I would also try to get to the ghost town of Bodie.

Would also be nice to add Lake Tahoe to the agenda. If you stay at south lake Tahoe you can gamble on the Nevada side of town, int hat way you might consider dropping a day from Vegas to make Tahoe work.

All your points are great thanks...If I think of things I'll ask away if that is cool?

Just looking at car hire

Hertz offer a Chrysler convertible for £ 900 odd

Avis don't offer a convertible :(

Any other reputable companies I can take a butchers at?

How long are you going for? I would be aiming to pay £400 for a 2 week convertible rental.

Hertz offer a 'Chrysler 200 Convertible or Similar' - its just the name of the class. The class contains Chrysler 200's, Ford Mustangs and Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyders.

You could try http://www.uscarhire.com/ and rent with Alamo. All insurance is included and you get to pick your car from an aisle full of them, so you can take the Mustang if you want.

Easyrider - we did a slightly different trip to you (flew into LA, drove to San Fran, then down to San Diego stopping all the way, then back up to LA).

You have to stay at the Avila Village Inn: http://www.avilavillageinn.com/ It will be great that time of year. Its more expensive that a motel of course, but you can order Tri-Tip delivered straight to your room from SLO and you have a Hot Tub on your balcony!.

Hire car wise we used Hertz via Quidco and using a discount code it was ridiculously cheap. We went off season however (about now actually).

SLO is really cool as it Santa Barbara.

Also defo stay in Monterey (We stayed at the Spindrift Inn, and would certainly stay there again) and go to the aqauarium (book tickets in advance!!).

Enjoy :)

Don't go in July unless you absolutely cannot go any other time of the year! Everything will cost twice as much from your flights to your car hire.

Go in September - the weather is just as good. I went in September and it was still 108f in Death Valley and so hot in Vegas it was like being punched in the face as you walked out of the hotel room.

My window is 18th July when I finish work to 29th August when I start back at work matey

You will pay dearly for that window unfortunately. I bet your flights are pretty expensive, too :(

Death Valley will probably be uncomfortably hot in July/August, too.

I have 6 weeks off in the summer this is the only time I can go dude.

I did this trip some years back.

We didn't bother booking places to stay, just rocked up at motels... If you want to go to Alcatraz, book in advance...

Actually I tell a lie. We booked three hotels. One in Hollywood with a rooftop swimming pool, one in Vegas, the big pyramid one, and one in Santa Barbara on the beach. Good times.
