well thats what it sounds like, not always but occasional buzzing sound. The PSU is about 2yrs old (Arctic 600w as far as i remember). Is it on its way out?

cheers

(Not system in sig, this is an old banger i use as a media center)

yeh possibly fan or maybe a loose screw ?

have a look :)

get some compressed air in there and check if there is anything obstructing the fan/

Just took it out and empty'd about half a can of compressed air cleaning it, to rule out some kind of debris being stuck in it. Unfortunately its still making the same electrical arc'ing noise occasionally.

That sounds same as my PSU (soon to be replaced as new PC coming tomorrow or thurs!! yyaaayyy!). Jeantech Arctic 600w about 2 years old. Mines fine and i compeltely messed up the build, so i'd say time for a new one.

Sounds like it could be a capacitor or something inside the PSU thats on its way out to me.
Is it still under warranty? If so you could try and get a replacement :)

id scrap it to be honest as it seems pretty old and buy a new psu ... maybe a corsair 520w ?

i'll see how it goes over the next day or so (pretty quiet now), Its hardly old though being a 2 yr old 600w modular PSU, and with it being on a media center and used only 2 or 3 times a week i thought id get a lot longer out of it, suppose thats what i get from buying it from the purple shirt brigade...
