Anyone done it recently?

The weird stuff in my case would be 500g bags of Oregano, Basil and Thyme :D

Are airport security gonna just look at it, swab it?

Can I expect to be strip searched and rectally probed?

In the past I've flown with PC parts and about 200 paracetamol no real issues.

You know you could just pay to get probed rather than go to all the hassle of smuggling Oregano, Basil and Tyme?

I don't know, fetishes are pretty expense these days.

Well that's what I heard from a friend anyway.....

Probably depends where you are going and the import rules, we got pulled in Denver as we had had a banana in our hangluggage on the way out. We are it on the plane but the sniffer dog still picked us out!

They might look at it but if the dogs don't sniff it out you should be alright. Of course, depends where you are flying and what they allow in.

Where are you flying to? Some places have strict laws regarding the transit of biological materials. Otherwise, you'll be fine.

As above, depends where you are going as to how deep the probing goes

I have been charged $80 for having 2 cloves of garlic in the bottom of my backpack. It wasnt even handluggage. Grandad was fined something like $120 many years ago for having a lime in hand luggage (for Gin & Tonic) going in to China. No probing involved witheither luckily

Just EU from London to Stockholm then internal flight.
It's 5x cheaper in UK than here.
I just thought I'd pick some up whilst visiting, weird I know.
I don't mind a five minute chat at each baggage scan, but if they take it further, yes, it's not worth that hassle.

I once flew back through Ottawa airport and heard my name called over the PA system after I'd cleared security. I made myself known and was taken into a small room with a TV monitor in it. I watched as a security officer in a different room rummaged through my hold luggage.

They found a brown substance wrapped in cling film. This obviously looked pretty dodgy. They eventually believed me when I said it was fudge after passing it through a couple of detectors.

Everyone was very polite but this was Canada. Prepare to be bent over if you're flying to/from the states. :p

It's unlikely you'll have any problems, then. At worst you'll get stopped at the security desk so they can check it.
