Fm2 processors good for games?

Zoostorm LPA-300C

It's original power supply, but being a 300w and only 12A on the +12 I would imagine I could only stick to 65w processors which is what the 3300 is whether extra ram will make a difference, will only stick to 1333 save buying 2 sticks over one as its got single 4gb.

I do have 350w vs corsair going spare, but was going to sell that to upgrade or just for the money.

Faster memory makes a difference and the Llano quad cores support upto 1866MHZ DDR3.

If I were you,I would get a secondhand A6 3650,A6 3670K,A8 3850 or A8 3870K and they will be all under £30 nowadays AFAIK.

Have a look at my review of the A6 3670K I linked to earlier:

https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18434284

I was able to run Hard Reset,DiRT2 and D3 at reasonable settings at 1440X900 on my A6 3670K.

I even plonked in my HD5850 at the time for a LAN and the system could run more demanding games fine.

Thanks for replies.

Yeah this psu is weaker than the cheap standard ones I got in other computers I'm selling lol, but Hey it's a 2nd computer now so not a biggy and the corsair vs 350 has exactly 300w on the 12v, it was powering a 4th gen i3 and a gtx 750 at one stage, but whether I single cars or try this hybrid X fire out I will still sell the corsair to upgrades as I will still want a better psu at some stage..

Do I need the K series or would I be fine with normal? Don't know how much they cost yet.

On another note while someone said this system was only good for office, I have installed crysis and while I haven't got fraps installed yet at a rough guess these are the ball park figures for fps:

Res is 1920x180 @ 60hz

Very high - around the 15 fps mark, plays but obviously not ideal
High - around 20-25fps, could start under 20fps, little smoother
Medium - would say around the 30 fps mark as a minimum, lot more playable
Low - over 35fps if not 40 I would say, spot on really, but can obviously tell quality isn't great with rough edges

So for guestamates this machine in its standard no tweaked form is pretty good actually, got far cry & 2 to install next them may bother with BF4.

Also on another note, while Windows 8 is activated and uses whatever antivirus stuff built in if any, 2 of 3 games I got recently ie ghost recon advance warfighter and gta 3(needed do mode) all install and work just fine where as they installed, but failed to run on 8.1, I'm hoping doom 3 will be the same was as well.

Is the performance of the graphics limited to the chosen APU?

Basically I had 4gb then 2 days ago I brought a 2gb stick as that's all the shop had and was £4 lol, so with having 64bit Windows it shows the 6gb, however I wanted to try see if I could allocate more memory to the graphics as gpuz shows it at only 512mb and in the bios I seem to have no option to change ram, so am I board limited or APU model limited?

I remember having an old e350 APU on whatever board and I was able to allocate up to 2gb memory to the graphics(only had 5 or 6gb ram) via the bios, not to say it made too much of a difference lol.

the A10 7850K has been great for gaming on a budget for me, plays anything you put its way on high settings. Quick ram & supporting motherboard is the key with APU's

in the end i did get a R9 270 graphics card and overclock the cpu to 4.3 ghz and it really is a great little chip.

im sure there are a few others on here rocking the 7850k chips and i thing all have good things to say

Thanks for reply, so basically going from what you said regardless of if I max my board at 16gb the only way I'm going to improve graphics without hybrid X fire or dedicated is a new APU chip?

the 7850k has a AMD Radeon R7 Graphics width 512 shader Cores

and A6-6400K AMD Radeon HD8470D provided 192 cores that you mentioned earlier.

as you can see there is a difference between the two integrated graphics.

the 7850k has easily overclocked to 4.3ghz for gaming and up to 4.7ghz at times although that wasnt always stable. i dont see a reason paying the extra for the 7870k at all.

if you have room for a dedicated graphics card i would get a grpahics card and get a https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...d-core-processor-ad860kxbjabox-cp-386-am.html
as im sure that will easily overclock to 4.5ghz stable and will make an nice gaming rig on an old fm2 board

I can vouch for the Athlon as I'm using it :) mines overclocked to 4ghz,,,a mate done it for me and said it went to 4 VERY easy!! he asked if I wanted to go higher but 4 is enough for me :)

I can play dirt rally at a mixture of ultra/high and a few unimportant things low and get over 80fps on some tracks! battlefield 4 on high settings online in full rooms over 50fps and the division beta on medium I'm getting between 45fps and 63fps

the Athlon (although cheap) is just about the BEST cpu for the fm2/fm2+ boards,,,im happy with mine and playing current games nicely

I really wouldn't bother. Even with a discreet card in the latest games the A10 line is pretty crap, in Fallout 4 it's about the same speed as a G3258 and is just about playable - and we're talking about having a separate card here as well.

I have that exact LPA-300C PSU as well actually, crap spec's but for a cheap PSU it's actually heavy enough, weighs about the same as a VS350 I have. Haven't bothered using it for anything as with just 12a on the 12v it's not really good for anything but maybe a media PC.

I said the A10, not the 860K. He has an FM1 board so he can't get the 860K, the best is one of the FM1 A8's or A10's. Which themselves are way slower than the more modern variants on FM2.

You said A10 which only existed as a line from FM2 onwards - FM1 had only A4 dual core and A6 and A8 quad cores.

Llano use the last iteration of K10,ie, K10.5 which some core improvements and more L2 cache instead of L3 cache, hence its actually around the same as a Phenom II X4 in performance:
