Fn Brightness Keys behaving strangely

Hi Guys,

Recently I've noticed a problem with my Fn minus brightness key on my Sony Vaio Laptop (c series). The volume buttons work fine, but when it comes to using the brightness ones it wont dim it more than one bar. I then have to wait for the menu to disappear, before I can then turn it back up to full brightness, I can then turn it back down a bar, but am back where I started. I can't turn it down any further than 5 out of 6 blocks basically.

Is there any other way to dim my screen? Its running vista. Anybody come accross this sort of problem before? Any idea for solutions I could try?

Sony's brightness controls can be a pain in the rear, has it just started doing it? Try rolling back to a previous system restore point, also check power profiles. Its software controlled but I'm not sure how the drivers can be reinstalled on this model. Try the sony vaio site for fresh drivers I think there called libraries but they are not entirely obvious in their description.
 
id had a few problems with the brightness control on my fw11s. specifically after a hibernation, sometimes it would only let me lower it one bar as well. i dont remember it happening with the latest version of the software on my laptop though, but the last time i really used vista was the day windows 7 beta was released lol. i havent managed to get the drivers working on 7 yet, and i dont believe sont y have 7 drivers available.
 
Thanks for your help guys. Don't know why I didn't think of it but a system restore to the 30th march has solved the problem :) must have been a windows update or something.
