Hi guys,

Purchased my focus a couple of months ago, unfortunatly it came with this cracking around my clock on the dash. Here is a pic:

What would be the best way to deal with this? Am I going to have to replace the silver surround?

I don't know how the previous owner managed to do it :(

Take it off sand it down and paint it your self, will look much better anyway that way.

Might be best off buying the silver bit. Have a look around, not too hard to find.

Just seen that one on ebay and will see what the price goes upto.

This is probably a viable option. Do you know the exact paint colour or will any silver paint do the job? I'd rather it not look too different from other focus'.

Just to say, ebay should be a good choice. Or if you want, I'm sure some bloke was making custom one's for single DIN headunits. So if you fancied a new HU you could get the new surrond also. :) Think it had the lower part blanked off and it was all sanded and sprayed to look original. (i.e. no gaps).

I'm thinking the ebay option will probably be the easiest tbh.

I will be putting a new HU in at some point in the future. Can't seem to find any single DIN ones on atm. Do you know if he is still doing them?

I don't, sorry. It may have been on the owners club. (ffoc.com)

I think all the person did was attach the blanking plate, put a bit of filler around the edges then sanded it down and sprayed it. :) Looked decent and not too hard to do.

Sorry I can't help anymore.

Mine is exactly the same, well maybe not as bad but its started flaking in that exact area. Ive been meaning to sort it for a while but never got round to it.

Nah, I just want the normal silver look.

How easy is it to replace? Is it just a case of taking the headunit out and 'unclipping'?

Remove the head unit and you'll see four screws, roughly located at each corner of the head unit apeture. Undo those then it should unclip and lift out. Be careful to unplug all connectors or you'll rip the whole lot out.
