I think the Focus is top at the moment, good residuals, cheaper to insure/service and easy to tune. I like turbo torque too.

Dc5 bit rarer and a great engine, but very hard to tune.

Hmm, that's a toughie. As standard, I prefer the DC5, looks better and there is just something 'pure' about it. I haven't driven one, but have been a passenger several times and have been very impressed. Also, it's JDM TYTE YO!!!

But, if you are thinking of tuning then the FRS would win that battle hands down in terms of ease and cost.

In stock trim the dc5 wins for me but in terms of tuning, merlin seems to have spent a fortune on his and no doubt it's an extremely capable machine now, but still... lots of money

Personally I'd go for the Focus, if it were me (and it's looking likely to happen next car change :) )

The Teg is a very very nice car, a mate has one and yes it was nice. However he's selling it as he prefers his turbo power. Plus as you say, power is hard to up and insurance will be a right dog. I know they are fantastic handlers but, as Merlin has said, even a lowly Clio can match it off the lights. Ok the Teg will pull away later on but still :)

The focus will be quite different, still handle very well, quicker as standard plus modding should be easier. Insurance will be a lot better too.

Running costs shouldn't be too bad for either though bar ins for the Teg, tyres on the Focus will be more, both have brembos so I'd imagine pads + discs similar prices.

The Focus is very easy to get to 280hp it seems, anymore needs a bigger turbo really. I can imagine they are effortless to drive with that sort of power, much like my rover is.

I think I have virtually made my mind up to be honest, just the dc5 is the only other car swaying me, 2 seaters aren't really an option at the moment.

To be honest I already have experienced similar when comparing my brothers dc2 teg and my rover. The teg needs to be worked harder and doesn't feel that fast due to how smooth the power delivery is. Plus I don't really like the way you sound like you have to rag the crap out of them to get them to go in normal driving. They are damn good fun on an empty road though :D

Need to get a go in a FRS really, Merlins teg felt very nice as a passenger and easy to control on the limit. Will have to see how they compare, the 225 tyres will no doubt generate masses of grip. 1 G on the TG test track.

As you say brakes and tyres are the only real big expense. Yearly service is only £200 and parts are also cheaper.

In stock form as said the DC5 is quicker, but a couple of thousand £ will only take the Teg to 245 bhp.

I'd imagine £2k on the Focus would give you a **** load more than 245.

If you're favouring the Focus - I say go for it. You've really got to be prepared to spend a stupid amount of money on the Integra. As I'm finding out. Happy enough though. :)

Mmm like most comments made already, they're two similar cars - with very different power delivery :)

Both are fantastic, but at the end of the day it's down to you on which you prefer :)

Personally, I'd be in the blue oval :D

We talking straight lines or twisty bits? :)

Round a track, I've no idea which would be quickest, but real world day to day driving my money's on the FRS :)

I can't really compare them tbh but i prefer the looks of the teg, however upon reading about it the car is "RAW" no creature comforts the ride is harsh but i guess if your the one buying its that unique quality that you buy for, after being a back seat passenger in john's RS i have to say they handle brilliantly stick to the road. But having never been in a Teg my choice is biased ;)

The teg I went in was nice and comfy :) Yeah it's no BMW, but the seats were wicked and ride wasn't bone shaking, just "sporty" :)

The Integra is quicker in a straight line definately. As standard they 1/4 in 14.3x seconds. The Focus is high 14's at best.

As for twisty bits - I'd say if the surface is good - they'll be matched, but if it's not so good - Focus all the way. DC5 was not designed for UK roads.

:)

But all this is tosh anyway cos he'll get the Focus and mod it almost straight away.

I'd actually recommend the Focus tbh Si.

having been for a ride in merlin's teg, and a friends RS... teg all the way to be honest, felt like a nicer ride, and seemed more stable on roundabouts etc

teg for the win :D

I've never been in either so my comments don't stand for much but I just think the Teg is much more special. I see Focus RS's all the time and whilst they're undoubtably great cars, they just don't turn my head but when I see (and hear) a nice DC5 go past I turn my head to take note.

Never played with a DC5, but my mate had a DC2 for the first year I had the RS so we compared notes extensively :D

Real world? Nothing between them (they were both stock cars). It was just different methods to get the same performance. They both handled beautifully and over a decent A or B road I wouldn't know which to choose. However if you are looking at the upgrade costs then £2k buys about 60-80bhp for the RS quite easily.
