Focus squeaky / creaking front suspension

Hi all

Had my new (02 - 2002) Focus Zetec 1.6 for a week now. When going over speed bumps or heavy breaking (when just about down to 0mph) the front suspension creaks. My partners mum and dad have a newer version of the same car (53 - 2003) and they say theirs does the same.

Anyone else out there got the same happening? It came with a 12 month warranty so I might take it in.

Well it is booked in under warranty to be looked at.

Sounds like dry bushes somewhere maybe the anti-roll bar mounts or possibly the lower wishbone mounts.

You need the car up in the air then go round leaning on various bits to get the suspension moving around, to see where the noise is, once found I doubt it will be much more serious than to take the bushing apart grease it up again and rebuild.

Ford's in general seem to be quite prone to dry squeaky bushes.

Not totally a Ford expert, but that is where I would start anyway.

Well i was told that "I would expect it is covered under the warranty" - So no cost to me I hope. Just the hire car fee.

Well a recommendation for JCT600 where i got the car from.

Suspension is NOT covered under the warranty BUT....

4 years old but as ive only had it a week they are going to replace the shocks and then take a look at the backs once the fronts are sorted.

They are also replacing the middle and back parts of the exhaust as they've noticed another problem.

JCT600 - so far well done.... but it is a car dealer so I wont be holding my breath!
