Stone chips on the wing and bonet too *sigh* :(

I'm hoping to have not too many swirls upon delivery. After I've taken the car it'll be careful wool mitt washing only! No nasty sponges :p

You should see the state of my bonnet, its peppered :(

And dont even go there in terms of swirl marks

yeah the paint is like butter.. I've done 25k in mine and I'm having to have the bonnet resprayed before I put it up for sale shortly.

Sounds like you got a good deal :)

My wife moans about how hard it is to drive and I just ignored her, just had a week out of the car due to a very minor op, got back in yesterday, booted it and OMG! she's right! lol

the only thing I think I'll miss is the popping on the overrun, never had a car do that :)

Wonder if I'll be able to make my st220 do it??

Not just keeping it clean but it shows up every single mark, I think the Ford clearcoat is particulary soft as even someone brushing past your car is going to leave scratches in the clearcoat, washing is an absolute mare and it's most disheartening to see swirl marks all over the spot :(

I completely agree - for this reason I will admire everyone elses black cars but never own another myself. The 'wow' factor when its nice doesn't make up for the 'doh' factor 99% of the rest of the time.

Don't worry about black cars. Nobody looks at them that close up anyways. I loved my black car.

The owner does, and its the owner to who it matters.

Nice, sunny day, the sun comes out, shines on your car and.. shows up a matted mess of horrible scratches and swirls on a black car, yet not on a lighter coloured car of the same condition.

In what way is it hard to drive? i found it easier than my d-turdo 306 and my old ST24.

I doubt you will get any popping from the ST220, the ST3 does this because the exhaust hast been tuned to do that, and the fact that its a 5cyl turbo, which the ST220 isnt (2.5v6 isnt it)

How do you get the ST to pop btw? Need to know these things :p

I find it easy enough I just wasn't ready for the slight torque steer and tramlinesing the the firm suspension because I've been in bed for a week, I think her problem is the brakes that nearly send her headfirst through the windscreen and the hair trigger throttle (in her opinion) bear in mind she drives a 1.8 mondeo lx so this thing is a bit extreme :D

when its cold stab the throttle, that normally gets a bang out of it.

Also when cold accelerate hardish then come straight off the gas.

TBH just rev it when you pick it up, it'll do it.

Its by far the best feature :D

Mine pop and bangs like a good un hot and cold, rev it a little hard and release the throttle and you get a nice rumble, even inching forward in traffic brings about the pops.

Sometimes it pops for no good reason too.

I have spent today giving my callipers a chavtastic splash of red paint, they actually look quite OEM with the blue

Hmm I spoke to the finance guy at Ford yesterday, mainly to set up my token amount of credit to get the £1000 discount. I also took the opportunity to ask how exactly I pay for the rest of the car on the day. Apparently he reckons I can bung £12,500 on my debit card!

This seems quite a lot for a card.. but he said the bank might do a couple of checks, then that's it..

He's right, as long as you have the unds in the bank ready to go then you can stick pretty much what you like on a debit card. I'd replace the bank 'might' do a couple of checks to the bank probably will do a couple of checks though. Therefore if you have security questions or passwords set up on your account make sure you know what they are to help things go smoothly.

Personally I'd take it in cash :)

£12500 in cash? I don't have one of those aluminium briefcases with the handcuff :D

Yup thats how I recently paid for my new car, you have to verify the payment they ask your some questions like the last 4 digits of your phone number, month or year of birth etc, nothing too difficult.

Just a word of warning, anything you try and buy on your card for a couple of days afterward will most likely have to be varified aswell. As I found out when I went to fill up with petrol! Best to just pay using cash, thats if you have any money left! :D

Enjoy it! :)

I paid for my S3 (Well the big deposit for it, putting all the cash up front for a depreciating asset didn't make much sence) on switch. That was a similar amount to what you are paying. No extra checks or anything at the time or since.

Personally I would not buy another black car because after having two in succession it's a pain in the backside. The first one being a new 206 ( ok don't kill me!!!! ) haha, this was easier to keep swirl free and scratch free because I looked after it and being the first owner, I knew if any swirls did appear it would be because of me. Now with my old BMW that was a whole new ball game, that was bad in terms of scratches and swirls and I had to employ the help of a detailer to sort out. The maintenance involved in keeping a black car is a total nightmare.

I personally will only go for a silver car now or anythin that is not BLACK!!
