hey guys,

My sister just phoned me a few hours ago, and is having trouble with her 54 plate focus TDCI (last of the old shape, 1.8)

She said it's spitting a lot of **** out of the exhaust, and is REALLY hesistant, no throttle response and struggles to get up to 30.

What do you guys think it is? At first i thought DPF filter thing but that makes a dash light come on, so do possibly turbo or injectors?

Any ideas? Thanks

Tom.

that's a ford main dealer price :p i imagine it'd probably be about half that, although i bet most of the cost is in the turbo

Might be worth getting a second opinion, just to make sure its definitely the turbo and not some sort of split hose leading up to the turbo or something else.

If it is the turbo, that's a bummer mate. Yet another TDCi biting the dust.....

Just for comparison

A brand new garrett gt28 £1k
A brand new toyota turbo for the MR2 £1k
To rebuild a turbo £400

Sounds very expensive.
