Fog lights

"Xenon" foglights? any pics of what they looks like ?

At least standard BMW ones are a yellowish shade and point towards the floor!

I always find the odd person in this area with them on all time. My bike headlight is pretty blinding at night anyway, so a flash of the full beam to remind them that there fogs are on usually has the car driver expressing his displeasures in an array on hand signals rather quickly.

People who drive round with fog lights on when it isn't foggy should be shot. People who drive with them on inconsiderately when it is foggy should be shot twice as clearly they understand the correct usage of them but have elected to be **** ends.

haha no seriously, you find that people with their high spec zenon's like to blind people to show they have a top spec car I swear. Numerous times have I had Mercs with their lights on in broad daylight just to draw attention to their sparkly lights.

I suppose it is annoying actually.. but not enough for me to make yet another thread about it, would rather save the effort of ranting and just shake my head at anyone with fog lights on in daylight. :)

Some cars with light sensors that activate the xenons when driving through a dark road (covered by trees for example) or a tunnel the lights will come on and stay on for a set period even after exiting the dark area. not everyone has it set to auto of course but I'd say 90% of the time this is the case and the driver may not even be aware it's on.

Not that it matters since Volvo drivers for example don't have a choice :p

Speaking of Fogs.. does anyone know why some cars (I.E Some Mercs, and more recently the fiat bravo) why the heck does just one fog come on when they turn?

I saw it once in that episode of Top Gear where they were on the Mini Motos doing the taking people home thing in their own cars, and a couple of weeks ago I saw it on a Fiat Bravo, wth is that all about?

It's the auto lights again, when cornering one fog comes on to illuminate potential dark spots for better vision during cornering, see one Merc which does this here all the time and *** first time I thought "whoah nice merc with blown fog!" :p

They are meant to illuminate the direction you're steering the car in. Bit of a fad really. And looks crap because everyone thinks you're driving your expensive Merc around with a blown fog light and a fog light with a bad connection.

And illegal. I thought you were a professional driver?

So the rumour goes...... :p

Its a case of making sure the vehicle is seen, especially driving in built up areas.

As I've already said, how people miss something as large as an artic fails me.....

The only times I put mine on are:
1) In Fog
2) When I'm going down really dark country roads, as they help light up the roadside better

I don't get why people have them on all the time, but TBH I'm sure I did this with my first car which had foglights on :o

yup looks crap, probably does naff all, and 99% of motorists will think you have a blown bulb

They never glare me at all unless at night in the country. If there are street lights it doesn't affect me.

My car doesn't have fogs but I could do with them seeing as I spend a lot of time navigating out in the sticks where fog is an actual issue. £190 new from Honda, hmm..
