Quick question on Fermi cards, am I better off with running -advmethods or not, currently have it enabled and producing 8.9k ppd @ 900 core

With a decent oc and GPU3 & advmethods enabled the 450 has been known to approach 12k ppd.

I would hope to acheive at least 10k ppd @ 900 core (as it has 192 shaders compared to 96 in the 430)

Depending on core and what else is going on. My GTX460 hardly ever reaches 12K in fact I've turned it off because it takes away from the bigadv too much.

This is what i have set on my GTX470's

Code:
Ask before fetching/sending work (no/yes) [no]?
Use proxy (yes/no) [yes]?
Proxy Name [127.0.0.1]?
Proxy Port [8080]?
Use username & password with proxy [no]?
Acceptable size of work assignment and work result packets (bigger units
may have large memory demands) -- 'small' is <5MB, 'normal' is <10MB, and
 'big' is >10MB (small/normal/big) [big]?
Change advanced options (yes/no) [no]? yes
Core Priority (idle/low) [idle]?
CPU usage requested (5-100) [100]?
Disable highly optimized assembly code (no/yes) [no]?
Pause if battery power is being used (useful for laptops) (no/yes) [no]?
Interval, in minutes, between checkpoints (3-30) [15]?
Memory, in MB, to indicate (6134 available) [6134]?
Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced
scientific cores and/or work units if available (no/yes) [yes]?
Ignore any deadline information (mainly useful if
system clock frequently has errors) (no/yes) [no]?
Machine ID (1-16) [2]?
Launch automatically, install as a service in this directory (yes/no) [no]?
The following options require you to restart the client before they take effect
Disable CPU affinity lock (no/yes) [yes]?
Additional client parameters []?
IP address to bind core to (for viewer). Use space to clear []?

Ta very much guys, I'll leave advmethods on then. I'm assuming the units the units needed to get the 12k ppd I read about are rather think on the ground.

Just had a nasty day of it with the SR-2, A5 client kept crashing

1st let it just delete the wu and download a new one, that did the same thing.

Then tried deleting the A5 client and let it download a new one of those too. Still crashing.

Chkdsk no issues.

Ended up deleting the work folder and everything in the fah folder except the client.cfg and exe files then ran it again, it downloaded everything fresh and all seems ok

Well, you have four months to decide :D

That little link below my sig is a preview of things to come :)

As I'm doing some video editing atm - Poseidon is offline (for fah).

Yeah

Zeus is nearly ready - all I need is the Motherboard, Processor & Ram :D (and a couple of 590's) :D

Just waiting to see performance of Bulldozer.

Poseidon (aptly named due to water cooling & G.Skill Trident ram) will be getting four 570's or 580's (wc'd) sometime later in the year.

I predict some serious stomping, I'd better get my act together!

Aye I'm eagerly awaiting bulldozer as well to replace my ageing Q6600.

I was hoping for a little more than 15k ppd from the 560 - but it's a decent addition none the less :D

I may get another next month and then the two will replace the 430's in Hades (the 860 rig).

But for the time being - it's being used for video encoding in Poseidon.

If you're only going to do fah - then the answer is 'yes'.

My my first choice will always be seti - gpu based.

Thats why I got the Asus Rampage Extreme III - 4 PCI-e slots for gpu goodness.

The cpu's will be directed towards fah and/or cpdn/wcg when the all gpu's come online - plus it's a good way to heat the house :D
