------------------------------

Another good week guys, keep it up and a big welcome to the new guys, we have a few this week.

I was thinking we used to have a single machine league, is anyone interested in doing this again? If so let me know and I'll start a single machine thread and get the league going again.

I am loving my new 460's, the shed folder is back in the house and they are so quiet there is no need for me to build the sound proof coffee table I was thinking about! The only noisy thing left is the stock CPU cooler which I'll replace this weekend. GF is happy and front room is warm again so all good.

thanks for the news :) been slacking but should be back in the folding game when i get my 470 and new pc :) which should be very soon now that i got a proper job

Afternoon

Welcome to

Got an imbetween milestone tiffy

Thanks for the news dekez and I hope the batch file cures your issues

Cheers didgemaster, excellent tiffy, I need to find a better source for tiffys list as Kakaos milestone tiffys suck! They miss all the big round mil tiffys which is what it's all about!

I was hoping my production would be higher but the lack of Bigadv WUs is annoying. Either way about to hit the 5 million milestone! :D

Just got dezek's castoffs installed. That should help my production now.
Next week will tell. Not up there with the big boys by any stretch of the imagination, but should be a big improvement!

I hope they serve you as well as they did me :)
This is how it all starts, before you know it you'll be running i7 bigadv and watercooled 470s! :p

Nice to see the team computing away. I just realised I never really posted in this sub forum, but now is as good a time as any; so hello, fellow folders. I have been chipping in from time to time, as you will note. However, this year things are really taking shape and plans are in motion to get a second cruncher up and running shortly, alongside my main rig. Hopefully on a 24/7 basis!

Hi

Thanks for the welcome.

I have been hanging around a little while but this is my first post as i have just been reading around the forums and throwing custom OCUK's way when i see a good deal and there are so many. Up to around 4 or 5 k so far.

Just thought i would give something back while im soaking up all the info im reading and all the good ongoing deals.

One thing though my stats seem not to match up after using the try app once and letting it finish its load before uninstalling and using two console clients v 6.23 for one of my duel core systems (Another system added after but not seen a result yet). Could this be an issue or is that down to update times as i only started yesterday? Im also adding a few other old systems kicking around gathering dust but i am limited to what pata/sata drives i have left as i have given most away (I thought about booting from linux live cd's/USB but the install looked a little long winded and confusing) will this also be added just by adding my username?

Anyway glad to be helping out in some way and some of the systems helping have been donated after users having there systems updated by OCUK but most of the donated systems have been given away im afraid. Im thinking of giving a MSI 460 a run at folding but it all seems to be in beta? How often does all this software get updated and adding multiple cores to a new release? I know its all due to funds but just thought it would be worth asking as others might also have the thought in the back of there mind? As long as the total is being added i dont mind. Keep it up you lot i used to seti but decided its better to deal with home first.

Hi

Thanks for the welcome.

snip.

Good to have you both with us, TWiNKLeT0Es yeah the stats can take a little while to update so don't worry about that. Instead of using 2 standard console clients for a dual core you can use one SMP client, have a look in the help guide in the op to get set up.

To fold on different systems you're right just make sure you put in your username and team number and the points will add onto your stats.

You may find that depending on how old the systems are and how much PPD they yield it might not be worth the cost of the electricity. Folding on a 460 is definitely worth it though, you'll need the GPU3 client which is found on this page (along with the SMP and other high performance clients). They are all stable clients as far as I am aware, but I think they always have that beta warning on there as new clients always come out on here first.

Give you get stuck at all just post in here or start a thread, there's not that many of us but someone will always reply at some point :)

Cheers, multiple guides on this forum were quite helpful.

I'm currently folding with an i7 920 and an MSI 460 via the beta clients. Both seem quite stable so far. A few tools from this page were nice: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadUtils. Might be worth a look if you plan to overclock your kit for FAH. Quite easy to use, too.

My second system is fairly old - a D820 jobbie salvaged from an office - but its only role will be to drive an HD5770, which will do all of the folding. It will be moved to a mini-itx platform with a less power hungry CPU soon enough. I'll be underclocking the D820 for the time being to save a few watts here and there.

Im back up and running, currently ploughing through the Phenoms first A3 @ 4ghz

I have a little more voltage to play with so 4.2 may be doable, nothing precise about my overclock yet either. Pick a vcore and up the multi, been folding for an hour or so without errors or BSODs so we're looking good so far.

What temperature are you aiming to stay under?
I could probably up the clock/volts (/fan) on mine a fair bit but I'm aiming to keep under 62ºC (currently at 3.8GHz, X4 965, 59ºC under full load atm but ambient temps (room, not even case temps) are at 29ºC :()

Thanks for the news :)

Thanks for the news :D

I have my 955 @3.8 with 1.472v 100% stable :) Its the older C2 version, seems the newer models can achieve a good 4GHz+ fairly easily now:(

I'm looking to stay below around 55'c as my room gets quite toasy in the summer, I can bench at 4.2 fine but didnt wanna risk borking a WU running it, 4.4 bsods a couple of loops into superpi

True to form, most of my farm started falling over not long after I left for work. 3 days after I left, the rig in the bedroom just shut down. The next day, one of the i7s shut itself down as well. No idea what happened to either of them since I have no access to them. I logged into the other i7 yesterday with TeamViewer and it was still working but had recovered from a BSOD earlier that day (thankfully it didn't break the WU) so I restarted the client with the -oneunit flag. The WU finished overnight so I've logged in again today and switched it 'not on' That only leaves the media rig in the living room which is only a Q6600 @ 3.4GHz so I'll only have about 4k ppd until I get back. Better get used to it I suppose as I will have no rigs running while I'm away at work after this trip. Ah well, them's the breaks.

On another note. I never thought I'd see the day when you could have nearly 600,000 points for the week and only be 4th in the top producers list - nice going from the guys at the top

Thanks, as always, for the news dekez and a warm Foldy type welcome to the new members :)

FOLD ON TEAM 10 :D
