Yay News :D

Only problem is now I've made the top 20 I've got nothing to get enthusiastic about. Perhaps it's time to start whinging about all the superpowered monsters crawling about in the cells below clambering towards giving me a kicking in a month or two's time :eek:

Sorry for the slacking had to take two 4p rigs off line one I think is sold the other going on the bay.
On the plus side if the bits ever arrive I should more than make up for it in the near future:cool:

So my pc folding uses 252w, so only costs 3.5p an hour I can live with that, much lower than I was expecting, what a waste of my 850w PSU.
 
Bit of help please...
I have 500W PSU and 3570K @4.8Ghz uses just 125W. I'm after a GTX660 Ti to boost PPD by 20k (3570K manages about 30k) and main concern is making sure that the GTX660 Ti doesn't produce coil-whine or have a noisy blower and have so far these to be favourable:
MSI GTX 660Ti Power Edition
or Gigabyte GTX 660TI OC Windforce 2X

Will run GTX660 Ti at stock clocks to minimise noise and temps in the 300R but can't decide either way. Maybe someone with one can help :)
 
I would say its completely up to you, i like the look and the quality of the gigabyte coolers, but havent had a msi like that.

Pretty much both the same coolers
both the same heatinks
Near enough the same clock speed
Same warranty
Same price

Theres nothing in it.

Price in this case may have to separate them, I'm edging towards the Gigabyte which can be had for just over £230, the MSI is £10 dearer but the cooler aesthetics wins me over enough to pay the difference. I'll place the order later today along with Win7 cos Ubuntu is causing me no end of random problems and downtime.
 
I'm getting 26k from my EVGA 660ti oc'd to 1200 under water. it did have a bit of a whine but it has quietened down substantially over a week or two on full load.
It was getting close to 40k untill the 8070 wu's came along :(
 
Top of the single PC league again :cool:

Slight drop for the team this week but, if we ignore the drop from the slacker, BaBa, it would have been a nett gain so there are positives to be taken from it.

Amazingly, everything seems to be working well back home - which is unusual but very welcome.

I've bought one of Biffa's 690s from the MM but won't be able to get anything done with it until I get home in a fortnight. Initial plan is to have it in the gaming rig with one of the 670s and put the other two 670s in the media server. I was trying to keep the server quiet as it's in the living room but, it doesn't need to be there so the plan now is to put both rigs in the bedroom to keep all the noise in one room.

I'll sleep in the dining room on a futon. If I take the bed out of the bedroom, I can create a load of space in there for noisy folding/gaming/server rigs as well as storage space for other stuff. I'm happy enough sleeping on a futon (I did it for over a year before and they're surprisingly comfy to sleep on - crap for sitting on but good for sleeping).

That's the initial plan. In the (hopefully not too distant) future, I hope to build a new gaming/Folding rig with the 690 I bought from Biffa along with another one and one of the 670s. Will probably go X79 for extra processing powah (all watercooled) :D I'll put the other two 670s in the current gaming rig and make that a dedicated Folding rig and put the server back to silent mode.

Anyway, enough rambling. You didn't need to know most of the above but I've been on the rig 2 1/2 weeks now and done next to no work so I'm bored :p

Really, 4... Little disapointdd thought they would do better than that do you know if they were quads or hexs?

And Stan... Its only cos i dropped out to run another GPU I had spare in another rig!
