Folding@Home News 29th April - 6th May 2011

I got my motherboard back today, started putting it back together, thought I could wing the water cooling with straight and 90 degree fittings but it's not having any of it, at least not without kinks anyway. I've ordered some 45 degree fittings so hopefully should be back up and running before the weekend.

Anyone having issues getting bigadv units on vmware?

I haven't had any for two days now........lost my last one when I had to reboot - since then I've not had another :(

Strange, I'd suggest a fresh download of the client: http://www.markljlewis.com/VMWare-FAH-1.6.0.zip and then just reconfig it as normal.

I tend to get quite a few, then about 2 or 3 A3 units, then back to BigAdv.

How come you lost it when you had to reboot though? Couldn't you of shut it down with the browser admin page, then rebooted and started it back up?

I shut it down through the admin screen but when I rebooted and restarted it said the data was corrupt. Tried restoring via back-ups but it was having none of it. Vmware is a little unstable that way from what I've read.

Also, I have already tried wiping the client and doing a fresh install, but again the first two wu's have been A3's - thats why I asked if anyone else has been having issues.

My second rig will finish it's bigadv in about 4 hours - so will see what happens with that one.

Yeah like I say I do get two to three A3 units between every two to three BigAdv units, so that may be normal. But I always seem to get a BigAdv unit eventually, so it might be luck of the draw.

Let us know how you get on though.

Will Do....

Edit:

i7 860 just finished it's bigadv........and in return it gets an A3......... :(

I give both rigs until the morning to pick up some bigadv work otherwise it's a return to windows clients.

oh hum................

Edit, Edit:

Left the i7 930 idle whilst doing some other stuff - just restarted and got a 2686 - happy days are here again :D
