Folding@home news 4th - 11th April 2013

My performance dropped a bit this week - was trying to resolve a few issues with the 4P rig - issues that didn't actually need resolving.....

But, I did managed to sort out overclocking it - currently running a 10% OC which has had a good increase in PPD. Will let it settle for a week or so then see about raising it 2.5% per week until I find a limit :D

Looks like BaBa has got some good returns on his new Intel 4P rig too ;)

Will be interesting to see who rises to the top (PPD) when the dust settles :)
 
Got back from my holiday today. Been getting 8070 and 8071 WUs on my GPUs pretty much all week so production is down a bit. No sign of any let up on them yet either :( Never mind, we take what we're given.

Good to see a decent increase from the team this week and nice to see the 3 loonies at the top getting even loonier :D Sadly, the SR-2 project will be on hold until I get back from work in a month. I only got back at lunchtime today, knackered and hungover so I got as far as unpacking the watercooling bits but no further. I'm away first thing in the morning to work so there'll be no progress for a bit. Was really hoping to get it up and running before going away but the watercooling stuff took ages to arrive which thwarted my plans.

there is other WU for gpus around which should knock yours up around 10k per gpu more than what they are already getting! even my gtx460 is around 5-6k up with them wu 7624 is one of them , from around 17k ppd to 24k ppd at the moment :D

Yeah, I've been picking the odd one up (actually got one at the moment picked up through the night) and they give an 11k increase on each core of the 690 (31k up to 42k) and ~13k on the 670s (28k up to 41k). There just don't seem to be many of them around at the moment. The 8070/8071s slow down my SMP WUs as well - by as much as 10k. With all 8070/8071 I've been at about 160k PPD, when I was getting all 762* WUs, I was hitting about 240k.

i noticed this aswell! wit the 8070/71 my smp was down to 10/9 k ppd now its back to 14-16k ppd
 
Are you guys also folding for the current Chimp Challenge? Man those top contenders do have some amazing PPD. Are you using 4P and 2P systems?

I am currently being a small help on OCN untill my main folding rig is done. But EVGA is killing the competition.
 
biffa has 2 x 4p folding and 4 titans which are for other projects :o:o
loudbob has 1 x 4p with around 20 -22 gpu's ( all top end gpus ! ) :o:o:o
baba is running 1 x amd 4p and some other crazy 4p intel - ( plus others unused ) :o:o

bigstan has a system containing 3770k? 3x gtx 670 , another system with a gtx690 , also a SR2 he's not got running yet

kergreg has 2 sr2's one he sold to stan ^^ now he has 2 x 580 and a gtx590 i think

i think every one else is cpu / gpu related

edit- you may be a " small " help over ocn, but you'd be a big help over here :D:D hint hint lol

We are not in the Chimp Challenge, it causes way too much inter-team strife IMHO. But have nothing against others doing it :)

Yes EVGA might be producing the most points, but according to the handicap system it looks pretty even in terms of chimp points between EVGA, OCN and Vietnam teams or so the stats say

OCN meant overclock.net. We're behind quite a bit haha.

I am thinking about putting together a 4P Opteron system in 2014. I don't have the cash to do something like that right now. Big ups to every folder in here. I was just curious. I have a buildlog going on and I try and see which forum does what amount of folding. At the end of the day the help on research counts imo. Only friendly competition as far as I am concerned.
