Folding@Home News 6th - 13th May 2011

I've finally put my rig together again! Having some problems with vmware big adv at the moment, it won't let me select more than 2 cores even thought the vm has 8 :confused:. So I've gone back to Windows big adv for now, as it's a bit late to work it out.

What make of tubing was it? Sounds strange I use 13/10 with the same pump and never had any problems touch wood.

With regard to securing them I've tried all three, Jubilee clamp was the only one that has leaked on me, it was a pain if they don't tighten evenly so haven't used them again. I found clips easier than ties, but if you don't have the right size then ties work just as well.:)

Seems I made a a rather large mistake in my earlier post (should've been 10/8mm tube I'm using).

The make of tube was/is currently Masterkleer - got the retail box 10/8mm clear tubing.

So far it's collapsed twice on the section from the resevoir to pump. Now it's collapsed on the section from the radiator to the resevior.

So my tubing is a little smaller than than that of your's - I might give the 13/10mm a try if you've not had any issues with it.
 
loudbob these days I always use:
XSPC 3/8" ID - 5/8" OD (10-16mm) High Flex Tubing

Early on in my WC days I used the same tubing as you, never had collapse but I've had the masterkleer 10/8 split and perish on me in the past :eek:

13/10 is only going to be a tiny bit thicker wall than you already have.
 
I've been using 11-16 tubing the last few months, firstly it was powered by a laing DDc 18w pump & now with an XSPC 750 (don't laugh too hard). I've never had any problems with this stuff, It goes nicely over 1/2" barbs too......I'm not brave enough to run it with no hose clips though.

I had previously used 13-19 but it's really heavy looking & too much for me.

The only tubing I have ever HAD to get rid of was some clear XSPC stuff that was absolutely reeking, I turned my PC on & 2 mins later the room smelled like it was on fire.
 
well after some inactivity from me thanks to a new job and working 50+ hours a week, i've finally got the folding rig working again and i'll be back to folding for a while hopefully getting the ps3 and the main rig joining in as well.
 
I think it's once every hour, but when you first start it can take a little while for you to to appear, you should start to show up tomorrow I'd imagine.

What username are you folding under?
 
I got all excited yesterday got a 900 point unit on the GTS450 for 14.5k ppd, disappointment soon followed as I only picked 1 of them up. I was hoping for a nice long stream of units worth an extra 6k ppd
