Looks like I'll be waiting a little bit longer to re-house my Opteron Rig....

OcUK seem to be having issues getting my orders out of the warehouse - had to cancel my order last week (after waiting five days and it still not having left the warehouse) - now I seem to be having the same issue (again) with the case & psu I ordered :(

If this carries on I may well move on to pastures new....

I found that issue before, raised it with 5ub in the CS section moaned a little and got Saturday delivery, granted I only paid pennies for some stuff.

I find the call centre staff can be hit and miss but 5ub is spot on :)

I've sourced everything I need/can afford for now.
It'll be run with temporary hardware until I get my credit card cleared and then I'll be filling it with high end stuff. I've sourced 2x Xeon 5620s for it for now, which will be replaced by hex core Xeons when I can afford it. I will be putting the 3x 670s from the gaming rig into it for now with a view to replacing them in the future - not sure what with at the moment, maybe 4x Titans eventually.

I'll be putting the 690 I bought from Biffa in the gaming rig with the intention of putting a second one in there at some point.

As I said before, It'll be next week before I get any of that done as I don't get home until late Friday and I have other stuff to do at the weekend. There's also a bit of faffing around to do. I have to take the 1000W PSU out of the server as it doesn't need it and replace it with a 400W Seasonic fanless jobbie. I then have to put the 1000W PSU in the gaming rig and take the 1200W PSU from there for the SR-2.

Hopefully, by this time next week, I'll have everything up and running. I reckon these additions should double my output

these past few months must be costing you a fortune LOL

I've had worse :p

TBH, this SR-2 build is working out not too bad. Including the 690 with waterblock/backplate, the whole project is only setting me back about £1500. I've managed to source most of the bits secondhand and quite cheaply and I have a few bits in my spares drawers I can use as well.

Once I've got this built, the credit card will be locked away until it's cleared so I won't be spending any more for a few months. I'm off to the Algarve for a week with my brother next month and then Lanzarote with my folks in July so, between holidays and paying off cards, my wages for the next 3-4 months are pretty much spoken for.

After that, I'll be looking to upgrade the SR-2 rig so I'll get my hand in my pocket again :D

you could have had one of baba 48 cores for under £1500 :o not that what you bought isnt good value :D

I toyed with the idea but, at the time, I wasn't intending spending that much money so I didn't bother. I bought the 690 and that was supposed to be it but then I saw kerrgreg's thread and thought I'd just get the mobo and the RAM and get the rest in the future. Then I found CPUs and waterblocks cheap, which seemed like too good a deal to pass up and then all it needed was a case and a hard drive - both of which I found cheap in the MM (bagged a Xigmatek Elysium for £60 delivered - bargain). Hey presto, new folding rig.

No refunds :P

LOL :D

am well happy the sr-2 will get to live on with the team!

It didn't seem right not to keep it Folding :)

Well, my Xigmatek is arriving tomorrow, I already got some nice coolers for the cpu's plus a nice Antec 1000w platinum psu

I have two rigs built with gpu's and a nice clean windows install on each - not set them folding yet tho....

Still got another four to strip down and rebuild in the appropriate cases and then a fresh install of windows on each

Finally, I will strip down my main rig and rebuild - fresh install of windows and may consider putting the water cooling back on.....undecided on this tho - might wait till the Corsair 900D becomes available and then set too with a 2011 build..........

Stan, gpu, block and backplate on their way

Good man :)

I was planning a 2011 build as a new gaming rig until I got distracted by dual CPU madness. I may still do it at some point in the future - probably wait until Ivy Bridge E comes out.

Now there's a plan - afterall I still have quite a lot to do before I get my farm up'n'running to full potential :D

I made this step after having my dual CPU fun, am pretty happy with it but miss all my rigs :( need to do something about that.

Shall increase my folding over the weekend I think
