Welcome to the team!!!

If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips

Looks like dunc, aka The_Alabama_Slamma, has this week well and truly nailed - I wonder what BTI, aka The_Ohio_Psycho, has in store for next week ;)
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now :)

hmmm I've only just noticed something quite odd....

I switched my best rig over to Bigstan's account for the week and sent about 1500 points his way as a prize for the naming competition and I've ended up 300 points better off this week than last week even though I was 1 machine down

I did have an 1100 pointer on one machine that took the best part of two weeks so maybe that did it - otherwise someone was folding for me :p
so thanks mystery donater.... or just thanks to the foldy gods for thy blessing :D

Even though I had a short week to work on Dunc has me well and truly out-stomped. He says he's got a load of piddly wee WUs so maybe I can make up some ground. I'll have you next week you rascally git! :D

As usual, Rich, the news is wonderful. Your time and effort is much appreciated.

You can leave it on my account if it's going to help your output - I don't mind ;)

It's a pity I couldn't take full advantage of having the extra machine but I've been overclocking all my machines this week (just the P4 to go but that really needs a full format and a damn good clean first) so some of them have been "not on" for parts of the week :o - hopefully this will help in the long run though.
It also took me the better part of 2 days to get the opty 170 beast built and overclocked (just need some decent WUs now to see how she performs).

You'll have to do better than a 200MHz server if you're going to catch me, aceface57. As I told you last night in the pub, I still have the test rigs for the farm to get yet :p (probably a couple of months now due to the Opty draining my bank account :( ).

As always, thanks to Rich for the news, much appreciated and also, welcome to the new folders.

Stan :)

I'll be watching my rearview for you :D

haha, that 200mhz server can't be overclocked any further, can you mod old dell motherboards?? :p Should hopefully be able to add another 3200xp just have to convice my other flat mate hehe

Whats the difference between stompers and dumpers ?

I'm a newb to this folding stuff :(

Stompers are people who have gained the most places during the week
Dumpers are people who have processed the most wus during the week

Hope that helps :)

welcome to the team :)

just to clear it up the dumping figures show how many points were gained during the last week - I list everyone who managed over 1000 points in the last week

the top stompers is everyone who gained 2 or more places in the last week

since you're new to the team you should see yourself on the top stompers list for quite some time as you wade through the slackers :)

Yer, got me a tiffe! :p

Getting some bad WUs at the moment though - what was with the sudden band of high scorers and where have they gone? :(

Thanks for the news Rich, good stuff.

Thanks Uncle Rich :)

.. aand the Alabama Slamma has cracked the top 20 producers list on EOC!

The excitement has brought a dump on! *dumps 731-point DGromacs WU* Yum.

Alright folks, I was thinking back to when I first started rolling around the idea of writing an updated FAH guide. I recall that there was also some discussion about creating a general distributed computing introduction for inclusion at the beginning of the individual guides or as a sticky in and of itself. Do we still think this is a good idea? Anybody care to volunteer their services in partnership with my own?

I had my old 166 server running at 266 for 3 years 24/7. there are usually jumpers to control the mutiplier being used
