Folding@Home Weekly Team News - 12th October 2006

My production is starting to go up again yay. Later on today i shall also be borgin another nice p4 system, i better read up on p4's aswell as i think it has hyper threading. Does this mean it can run two WU at once?

As far as I understand it, you can run two clients, but I don't think you get 2 x the power of the CPU. I think one client will be at 80% or something.

I could be way off though :D Have a look at the guides in the stickies.

Yes two threads about 1.2 - 1.5x the output from a single thread (got me a farm of these :D )

Edit:
However if machine is being used just run one thread as two may cripple the machine if it doesn't have 1gb of ram when the large WU come back. Or you could just set it to only take small WU durring config

Hiya

Just to keep the list up to date, I've changed to a dual-core CPU. Nothing too fancy(budget retraints), it's an Athlon 64 x2 4200+.

But I can now run BOINC on one and Fold on the other so I'm happy with that...

My discontinued 'Mikebert4' account posted more points this week than the supposedly Uber-conglomerate *** account... Mike smells somthing amiss...

i killed off a few rigs from the farm though, i didnt think they were worth bothering to crunch on so they are down and out permanantly and are sitting in the corner of the room looking sorry for themselves :D

First time ive been in the 1.6k+ sector for my avg. :D

The borging is beginning to show results. Now comfortably green, brown should be in easy reach once the stats catch up.

If only the server would stop dropping the internet connection I'd be happy - can't VPN without it and assimilate some more. Seems every time I VPN that triggers a connection loss when I leave. More to the point, the borgs can't get new WUs when they've done the old ones whilst the connection dies :(
