Majorly down this week by about 7k :(

Anyone know when the windows smp client is out?

I wish :(

I will soon have two E6300's a 3800+ X2 and an E6600 all running windows all running two clients :(

Woo, my mini Mac farm's starting to make its presence felt then. :)

I wish they'd release an SMP Mac screen saver though, got machines here sat doing nothing that could pump a few WUs out. :(

They're the same apart from cache sizes, generally.
The specs are the same, yes. However, optys are designed for use in servers and are made with a better quality silicon wafer. The X2 is also sorted by speed, whereas optys aren't (iirc) - chips that run at higher frequencies becoming 4800+ and the ones that don't having 512KB cache disabled on each core and default frequency lowered. Apparently, the quality control on optys is far higher, as well.

X2 / Opteron = same thing, different names.

X2's are Manchester, Toledo, Windosr and Brisbane cores

Opteron's (Dual Core) are Denmark, Italy and Egypt cores

My production is way down but that is because Ive stopped my home machines running 24/7 which effectively means they are running at half capacity.

 No, they're different sets of chips.

No they aren't.

939 x2 had rebadged opteron counterparts

am2 x2 is slightly different with half the cache of the opteron disabled but that's a different kettle of fish

Thanks for telling me something i already knew.

Well, i've had a little 3 week break, been busy with this jolly annoying real life thing, but i'm back now. Amazing what that log out button can do for you.
I wrote 8000 words, 55,000 characters of css and html code (and a lot more that got deleted and re-written), i lost about a total of 10 hours sleep and had one night with 2 hours of sleep. My whatpulse stats are looking rather good as a result. Fun fun fun.

So whats been happing round here while i was away then?

Looks like this forum has been busier than usual. And i can't get on eoc, whats up with that?

Welcome back - I've not been around much this week either but it's definately been busier, quite a few BOINCers coming out of the shadows which is a bit scary :p

EOC is working fine for me at the moment

Bah. Bloody 212*s :( Here I was on 1.8k PPD and now down to **** PPD. :(

Ah well, we're battling on Team 10 - we're not the only ones with decreasing averages. Hopefully they'll pass soon and we'll be back on the up again. It's amazing how hard they hit us these crap WUs.

Thanks for the news as ever Rich - shame it wasn't more positive.

Well, none of my rigs at home have submitted any WUs for about 4 days now  I'm getting bloody fed up with this and am seriously considering packing it all in. Every time I come away, something happens at home and things go **** up, I can't really be bothered with the hassle - I always worry as to the reason why.

Stan :)

Look at him, the stress is aging him :p

Twould be a shame to lose that lovely output :(

Well a poor week indeed from me, my GPU client hasnt been submitting half the time for some reason, and PC has been off intermitantly.
I think I may also consider going for Ubuntu and using SMP - Cob's increase in output on a rig not disimilar from mine has just about convinced me!
Lets hope we can get rid of the horrible 212x WUs, although ive already had 2 nice 1495s today so it looks good on that front!
