Welcome to the team!!!

If you haven't done so already then why not check out the Folding@Home Setup Guide and the Quickie Guide for more foldy-tastic tips especially for when you're in a rush

Not such a good week - hence all the nasty red numbers, however that's bound to happen after a good week last week. Overall we're still doing alright, going in the right direction and most importantly still spreading the good word.
Great work everyone, congrats to all the tiffy winners and a big warm welcome to the new recruits!
Sorry anyone who's not been mentioned - you know what to do now :)

Somebody has been staying at the flat whilst I've been away and unplugged the 3 machines in the sitting room

In doing so they also switched off the router so that the 2 machines upstairs couldn't connect.

I wouldn't mind so much but they left the flat looking like a pigsty as well
i just need an address and a couple of photos - such treachory warrants being hung by the doobries in the town square at noon :o

i've got wound up enough by my brother turning off folding on the internet sharer in the past - i can't imagine how you must be feeling, i guess at least some of the machines weren't wasting electricity

here's to a great weekend and an even better week next week
i'm popping home this weekend and taking a router with me - will be bringing back the sharer machine which will go into the loft and will be clocked a lot higher than it is currently

Woohoo new member and top stomper :D

Only an old Athlon XP but hey every little helps
congrats on making top stomper this week, welcome to the madhouse :D
there's nothing wrong with old Athlon XPs - given the right work they can churn out some pretty good points

I await the day I can I can get something dual-core and insanely powerful but until then a handful of XPs around the house and a couple more in the loft will do nicely :)

gonna be taking the Barton out of the current machine and matching it up with the NF7 from home (best motherboard i've owned - it doesn't turn off! :D) to get it up from it's current stock setting up to something a lot nicer

that'll leave me with a K7S5A and either an XP1700 of the silly clocking variety or an unlocked Duron which thinks it's an XP1900 whichever gives the best results - either way i should be able to squeeze enough extra juice out of the pair to make a difference

In future would it be possible to have a top list of only those using a single machine? Like the old seti stats?

Just a thought. :)
yes I don't see why not - with only around 100 active team members it shouldn't be too taxing

as you've already said we would really need to keep a list for those with only one cruncher - an automated system would be great but for the reasons Billy stated that's not gonna happen :p
i'll keep the news the same for today but will get working on a nice looking format for it next week - i'll post a thread at some point asking for single machine crunchers to register

the only problem i can see is how we will class a "single machine" - I would say a P4 with HT is a single machine but how about an X2 or a dual Xeon?
I guess it's just down to individuals to decide wether their machine qualifies to be counted as one rather than many - that's fine by me :)

edit: oh and way to go on the XP1700 - I have two of the little beauties crunching for me, fastest is 2200MHz though I'm afraid that as an overclocker I basically suck :o

So make that 2 Windows servers and 5 Linux servers, with a total of 14 3.06Ghz xeons and 28 folding threads.
wowsers
very nicely done - and a great bit of teamwork figuring that one out so quickly :)

Motto: WWRD, what would rich99million do?
hehe if only i knew anything about Linux or had access to that kind of power :o
the place where i work is run on hamster-powered BBC Master Systems, we don't even have a server as everything is run remotely accross something i would imagine is not far removed from a 56K modem connection to a server halfway across the country

also you won't be singing my praises when you realise I missed the usual stats save point so this week will be an hour longer than normal
that'll teach me to start a conversation about how rubbish our work place is with the missus on a friday :p
