there is an option for NAT in the VMware network settings.

Yeh ive tried that. It doesnt make a difference. Ive also tried using the same ip address as on windows xp through network tools on ubuntu but all it does is interfere with my internet connection.

Im pretty sure its my uni stopping it as i am still able to access my university website address and network ok. When i go to register "my new pc" it asks me to delete my old pc and register the new one. So i just figured ill access the internet through the virtual machine, but when i register it simply registers my physical pc and not the vmware machine.

I could have course simply use my existing ubuntu installation, but i dont like linux very much. Ive tried using my os x installation but it doesnt work, possibly because the beta period is over? I guess theres no way of getting those high ppd smp units :( . I keep getting stupid 30xx projects.

The old beta expired but there is a new one out now. It might be that you've downloaded the old one. I'm certainly SMP folding on my MBP, so it might be worth another shot at that route.

getting a router would be a nice move!

If he got caught with a router plugged into his Uni (i assume halls) connection the proverbial would hit the fan big time...

I know a couple of people who did this (against fairly well documented regulations) and got dished out some fairly harsh punishment. Not worth the risk for the sake of more points imo.

Im using a router so internet works fine now. Ive run into a bit of a problem though. It is only detecting one core.

I am using the AMD64 ubuntu installation mentioned above.

Ive looked at synaptic manager and all of the different kernels have been made obsolete by the linux-generic kernel. So what do i do?

Thx

edit: nvm, ill just use dapper drake with a recompiled kernel.

The folding web page has gone a step further today, thanks to several hours work.
The quick guide is now all there, the folding myths have been edited a lot, and its looking a lot nicer.
Have a gander :) See what you think, any suggestions for improvements are welcome, if anyone wants to produce a page to go on there thats also welcome.

The cog background isn't white :p

And the text is messed up for me. For the 4 bullet pointed things on the front page, the words start on the same line as the bullet pointed bit, so "We will..." is on the same line as "Can't be bothered..." but at the very far right hand side. Badly explained and still cba to install photoshop to sort a screenie :o

Which browser?

This google pages thing is in beta and rather buggy, so if i can't get it to work i'll have to move to a normal webpage.

I know about the cog background, but not a lot i can do about it with only paint.

Edit: Fired up internet exploder and i see the bullet points are not displaying as arrows but empty squares. I can fix that.
I can also see the problem with the text alignment and i can have a go at fixing that too.

Thanks for the feedback, i wouldn't have spotted these things otherwise.

Firefox for the spacing issues. Looking really nice overall mate, excellent.

Although It's starting to fill up isn't it? Very easy to scare people away if there's no straightforward "executive summary" (cheers Billy :D ) available.

Yes i know, although its really nothing more than whats in the quick guide.
The nice thing is i can split it up into as many pages as i like, so i may well make a quick intro page and then have the main page with everything else on it.
