To echo what was said earlier, Linux is far more sensitive to instability than Windows [probably because any hardware instability couldn't compete with Windows 
] so if you do decide to try Linux, be it natively or via VMWare, you may have to lower your clocks.
The best points output comes from 4 x Linux SMP Clients run natively. Although 2 x VMWare instances with 2 x SMP clients each is very close but is more hassle I think. This of course depends how willing you are to switch to Linux.
Both methods can be found in my guide as linked to above. There is a dedicated Windows section so you can skip to that if you aren't interested in Linux.
