[ folding ] Ukraine will pass us in the next 24 hours.

Down. Motherboard is overheating leading to problems running the cpu client, plus doing a fair bit of design work which is stopping the graphics cards running. Sorry guys.

I'm not having much luck with the i7. Not sure what causing the problem or whether its just because I've only got it on a low clock (3.2Ghz) at the moment. But I'm only getting the same performance as my Q9650

Ok update 8800 died, down to 1 GPU, BUT I have just sent back my GPU to BFG so I hope a week turn around (hopfuly) I will keep you all abreast :)

Stelly

you will be lucky ive been waiting over 6 weeks now for my rma from leadtek.
and there is still no replacment on the horizion. they said
Dear Customer,

Currently we don’t have available goods to swap since it is EOL for quite a long time. We will check the availability and get back to you. sorry for the inconvenience caused, tks.

and mines was a 9800 gx2 so you could have a longer wait as yours is an 8800.

SLMP I think it's more likley that the only 'current' card that could be considered equal or better (in folding ppd terms) is the gtx295, which is also not really an option for them to give you! Hope you get something out of them eventually.

I'm pretty much maxed out atm, save my gaming spells disrupting output last week i've got no more to give.

I bought a 2nd hand 295 for £150 on the bay before xmas, shame RM broke it. havent seen another at that price since :( I'd be at 40k ppd if it werent for them.

It's mainly down to walls who is laying down some serious covering fire/ppd :D

Oh yeah! :D

What sort of PPD you getting and in what client?

Were you covered for damage by RM, or did you just have to swallow it :(

Edit:-

Off topic, but is there a reason why whenever I get an A1 core, it'll only use 50% of my CPU?

I was going to wait until I'd finished building the gaming rig before I started but, as there are only a couple of little things to do (probably tomorrow), I thought I'd try her out tonight.

Running 1 SMP client and 2 GPU2 clients. Currently working on an a1 SMP unit :( and two P5910 GPU units. HFM.NET says a little over 20k ppd (~8k each GPU and ~ 4.5k for the stupid a1) Should be a lot better if/when I get some a3 goodness.

Rig is an i7 920 running at 4.2GHz (4 cores) and a GTX295 running at 690/1487/2108. I've just finished my first watercooling project (well, almost finished). CPU running at about 65C and GPU at about 44C  with fans on lowest settings (which is pretty quiet - despite having three 55mm Triebwerks on it :D). If I turn the fans up full, I knock another 2-3 degrees off those temps but no need.

There will be the odd break in production when I do a bit of gaming but should be no more than a couple of hours a day.

I don't know how I let myself get talked into these things  :p

I'll get pics up once she's completely built (just waiting on sound card, card reader and some lighting).

The rest of the farm will be remaining in retirement for now but I may add on the other i7 when I get that watercooled (in about 3 months time probably).

Good job, Stanley! Start small...ish... then build it up when you have learned all your machine's quirks! :)

Jumping in with a whole bunch of machines with parts you swap around a lot is bound to have a few gremlins to go with it all!

Is it better running 4 cores for A3's or 4+4HT?

Got back from work and found my i7 was running at 100% CPU but only 1.9Ghz

It's definitely better with the hyperthreading on. So "-smp 8" is the cmd line parameter you need. Good luck with your build.

I'm at 188Mhz BCLK with everything at auto, temps are 61°C with 8 threads of Prime95 blend will test for an hour before trying any higher, but looking at reviews it seems I'm going to have to go manual for every setting to get a stable 4.0Ghz

Better performance with 8 cores but higher temps and less stability.

Just to prove my point. I switched to HT and my CPU temp jumped by 7 degrees and it blue screened within 10 minutes (luckily, no WUs were harmed during this experiment). Back on 4 cores now.

I did manage to get 4.0GHz stable with everything on auto but had to go manual to get my 4.3GHz. I think you could easily get 4.0 on 8 cores stable - it just takes a bit of tinkering. Good luck :)

Just for comparison. My UD3R does 4.3GHz with 8 cores stable on air but my Bloodrage is only stable at 4.2GHz with 4 cores on water and refuses to go any higher at all. I would swap them over to have the Gigabyte in my gaming rig but the Bloodrage is so damn pretty, I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of performance purely for aesthetics.
