-Folding- What would you suggest for £80 ?

Nvidia 9800GTX could be picked up off the bay for that price. Either that for an ATI 4850 maybe even a 4870

never really looked into used value of ATI cards

What motherboard do you have?

Because a couple of second hand 8800GTs/9600GTs/8800GS/9600GSOs can be had for under that, and will easily outscore anything that can be bought new for that price? ATI scores very poorly compared to Nvidia cards, so I'd stay with the green team if I were you.

Also you'll get a better response if you post it in the DC - Folding section.

Ask a mod to move it by RTMing your post :)

You can run multiple Nvidia cards fine on an Intel chipset, since folding doesn't require SLI. However I'd just use the 780 and be on the lookout in MM for 8800/9800 cards :D With three cards you will be getting some monster PPD :D

Maybe, but it brings a few questions.

What sort of PSU would I be looking at ? say if I had three 8800gt cards ?
Would it be worth throwing a quad core in as well ?

Just had a look at what PSU's I have and its between,

seasonic s12 500
hiper R 580
hiper R 480

I dont think I would have much chance of running a quad and three cards flat out with any.

The Seasonic 500W should happily handle the quad and 2 8800GT/8800GS/9600GT/9600GSO at full whack fine :)

Post this in the folding section. I know Biffa ran 4 9800GTs off a Coolermaster 520W. You would certianly get more points from three cards, than 2 and a quad.
