Like with a lot of things, it's not the tools themselves but how people use them.

For instance I follow a load of musicians, artists, independent cinemas and venues, so I get all my news and info pretty much delivered to one place. If a certain person talks too much crap I remove them, and all their tweets instantly vanish too.

You see I was of the opinion like that and it's for celebs to tell anyone who cares when they are going for a poo and such like.

I follow a lot more than I tweet but if your selective about who you follow and what you want to use it for then it really is useful. Not to mention the random Bree Olson tweets usually raise a smile. I work in the IT industry and I get a lot of relevant info for my job from twitter.

I actually agree with Lysander for once ;)

Seriously though, he's totally correct. I've started only recently, but I can see it being a big help for future work projects when I get things going.

If you still don't understand, basically you just post your bank account information in a tweed directed to @iGondor and you get entered into the Twitter lottery to win 10000000 Ugandan Dollas. :D :D

If it's any help I found the hash tag thing to be quite useful. Simply put '#' in front of a particular word of phrase and it allows you, or your followers, to search through the tweets containing that hash tag. It kinda adds to the whole hive mind thing that Twitter has going.
