Follow on from Steam sales, should win7 be 100% supported?

So why in the name of all that is holy have you been banging on about it not working on vista when it does and you don't believe vista to be the issue?
I haven't, I've been banging on about my reading the minimum software required, meeting those standards, and still not being able to get the game to work despite following all the default settings. Which in any other case, then software, would entitle me to a refund.

But you said

I wonder what part of those would indicate to me that the games, installed with default settings, wouldn't work, first on Vista, then on Windows 7?

You only finally mentioned hardware when I kept pushing if it worked for others on vista.

I don't see how that is relevant? I satisfied the minimum and recommended software spec for the game. That would entitle me to a refund with any other product.

The only reason I said I'm sure its probably something to do with my hardware is because the game has been played by millions, and I used my nous to reckon that it's something to do with that particular laptop. That doesn't remove the fact that I've satisfied the minimum [& recommended] spec they have posted on their page.

Can I just ask, does anybody actually know who is responsible for maintaining any given game page on the Steam store? Is it actually Valve who create the content, or is it the publishers who are using Steam as a content delivery system?

This whole argument (which in my opinion is utterly pathetic, but there we go) hinges rather heavily on Valve/Steam being responsible for that content.

Windows XP 32 bit.....(0.00%) 38.99%
Windows 7 64 bit.......(0.00%) 24.29%
Windows Vista 32 bit..(0.00%) 16.55%
Windows 7...............(0.00%) 11.40%
Windows Vista 64 bit..(0.00%) 7.53%
Windows XP 64 bit.....(0.00%) 0.59%
Windows 2003 64 bit..(0.00%) 0.43%
Windows 2000..........(0.00%) 0.10%
Other......................(0.00%) 0.12%

now look at it this way....if they were votes who would you say got most votes ?

would your answer be 'everyone but xp' ? :p

XP got the most votes [users] but most people (which is the term you used) didn't vote for [use] it. 40% vs 60% is not the majority of people. Simple fact, accept it and move on :p

Changing the way you make the statement like that changes the statement itself :p

You said 'most people still use XP'

That statement is incorrect (according to Steam anyway). Most people use something else.

You. Were. Wrong. :p

Nope :) Just because something is the most popular/common, does not mean that most people use it.

but it does have the most users comparing it to the other operating systems individually, and my reply was to a person who said win7 is now the OS of choice so looking at that list who would you say had the most users ?

what games dont work?

having the most users doesnt mean most people use it. It's only semantics but the two concepts are totally different.
