The swine has spent nearly £400 on my gf's card before we could get it cancelled, all at a website called www.clickandbuy.com, mostly for sums of £30 at a time, causing her to go £200 into her overdraft

have emailed the company involved, rang the bank again, still trying to get the MSN account back and hopefully have caught him off guard to have emails in there or soemthing with his details on that he has not deleted.

Luckily the mortgage and bills comes out of my account, and she gets paid weekly, so beans on toast it is for a few weeks, or until we can at least get the money back :(

That's just pure unlucky! :(

I would seriously change all your passwords to something secure.

her dad once had his details stolen, and the person started using a gambling site, as soon as 2 or 3 transactions come out in quick succesion the bank pick up on this in ring you straight away, luckily he won so her dad was up :p lol

How did hacking your hotmail account let them spend money?

she obviously had an email in there somewhere or could possibly have been a virus on computer with keylogger or something, really have no idea, cant have been on my computer or laptop, otherwise he would have had mine, which has a considerable larger amount of money in it, but then again so does her mums, but hers is fine and those are the only 3 computers she has used, so thats what made us think emails

I can only think of one way your hotmail account would have been used & that would be if you saved all your details in there - or got someone to send them to you ????

Please don't tell us that was the case....

So you have no idea how it was taken then ?

More than likely someone disguised a website and someone entered the details that were needed. If thats the case (and someone in the house willingly disclosed the info) - you will have no come back and will have lost the money.

Are you sure it was due to a computer hack or a phishing website? How do you not know the card was cloned or some guy just used the details he stole from an online retailer ?

she didnt directly put anything to do with her bank or bank details into her emails,

any invoices or anything star all your number out apart from the last 4 numbers, which im sure cant be used

could have possibly been some sort of virus i really dont know, or something completly different, just when she couldnt sign into MSN thats when something clicked

Pretty sure mine has been hacked today, cant login to hotmail/msn and my secret question is something random, very strange. Have contacted Microsoft. Pretty sure there's nothing worth having in there!

Hopefully click and buy would provide you with an address the items purchased were sent to (paper trail). Presumably the individual, and I use that term loosely, had your girlfriend's card security number?

What number did you use to ring the hotmail people?
