How much emphasis do you guys put on dreams? I mean, how much do you allow the things you dream about to guide the decisions you make in your life? Do you think that your subconscious mind should be allowed to guide you?

I feel that I have selected a biased group of people as those of this interest would tend to self-select into a group that discounts emotional influences in favour of more rigid considered decisions.

Discuss.

What claptrap, no emphasis whatsoever, if I had let my subconscious mind guide me then I would have been locked up years ago. ;)

So if you dream about an old friend you don't call him/her? If you dream about a girl you don't pursue her? If you dream about a food you don't eat it? Do you not feel that your inner-self knows best? Otherwise you will just be influenced and guided by a twisted incentive-orientated invisible hand social control system that gets us spending as much money as possible. It's not as utilitarian as is made out!

Aspirations yes, I generally let my heart rule my head (or at least interfere with it) more than is good for me. (I've specifically made decisions I was pretty sure were going to turn out badly but couldn't help it).
As for letting my dreams guide me, certainly not. For a start I don't remember my dreams very well, and when I do dream it's usually about things I'm already aware of.

No I don't let my dreams or true aspirations guide me, common sense gets in the way :P

If I let my aspirations guide me I would be trying my hardest to be a Premier League football player at Manchester United and would spend my whole young life failing. Some aspirations are termed as 'dreams' because they are just that, unrealistic fantasies that will never come true for the majority of people.

Similarly, I have on occasion in the past fancied a girl like crazy who has just not reciprocated the feelings, and I have had to ignore my aspirations and move on.

Sensible aspirations are a completely different matter, I am chasing a future career and job (at uni at the moment) that may not be my 'dream job' but is a job that I will be satisfied with and should have a good salary. On the topic of listening to or following my nightly dreams, no I do not do that as it would most probably lead to some extremely stupid things happening. Also, I often don't remember my dreams after about 30 minutes of being awake so unless I wrote them down I would not remember them.

If i followed my dreams I'd jump off a building. Don't think that would end as well as does in my dreams though....

i tohught most people dont remember most of their dreams? so no. i dont go and ring someone if i dream of them, or go eat some specific food because i dreamt about it.

Did that once now I' married to her and have 3 kids.. make your own conclusion from that :p

love 'em really :)

If you dream about jumping off buildings my feelings are you may not be well. I suggest you contact a health professional?
In one of my dreams i had my eye scooped out and then peeled apart in front of me. Apparently you can feel pain in dreams, took me about 5 mins before i could wake myself up (just didn't realize it was a dream like normal). I'm pretty sure my brain hates me.

Pish pash.. dont worry about these things.. you should be laissez faire.. wait..

I put next to no emphasis on dreams, for a kickoff I can usually barely remember my dreams once I've woken up. That's not to say that I might not sort out things unconciously when I'm dreaming but I would very rarely dream something and think to myself that I should do it that way.

I had a dream where someone cut off all my fingers, with scissors once. I felt it to start of with, then I blocked the pain and decided to get the hell out of there.
