Following on from NY in Feb - I've booked to go Las Vegas in November.

Just a few comments from when i was in Vegas 14yrs ago.

Echo the comment that Lima made about half a day shooting. You'll spend loads. I seem to recall I paid about £40 dollars to fire a Glock 20 times so i suspect you'd be hosing through the cash over several hours. I went to the Gun Store on East Tropicana Avenue at the bottom of the strip and about 2miles along.

Also b0rn2sk8 mentions places in and around Vegas, while i was there i had trips out most days with the exception of midweek where i went shooting during the day then went to see the Blue Man Group, i think at the Bellagio in the evening. Have you planned anything in the evenings as I'm sure there may be a show or two which both you and your wife would enjoy?

I booked my trips through Vegas.com Day 1 Grand Canyon Bus Tour to South Ridge (6am to 11pm) , Day 2 Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park (5am to 1am), Day 3 Ventured down the strip and shot a gun, Day 4 Eldorado Canyon / Goldmine Tour about an hour out of Vegas, Day 5 Valley of Fire. Again not that far out of Vegas, nice scenery and unusual rock formations including an elephant!

Because i was out of Vegas for most of the time I didn't really experience many restaurants so i can't comment on food as it tended to be a packed lunch on a trip or something else while we were out there.

Just remembered if you've ever seen Beardmeatsfood youtube channel, check out Dick's Last Resort Heart Attack Grill. They have a food challenge and for the thrill of it you get spanked by your server! :p

Well we travel in 2 weeks to Vegas, I really need to organise a plan of action for the trip.

Looking to hire a McLaren for 24 hrs too whilst there, should be fun.
Check into the insurance aspect, US citizens are covered for hire cars on their own insurance, you may have to sort your own

Be extremely careful..... a client of mine hired a Ferrari whilst over there last year for 24 hours.....

Handed back, all fine, no damage. Week later - £12k on his credit card for damages to the car. Claims of blown turbo's/oil leaks etc. They sent pictures and everything including mechanics report that showed damage etc.

Took him ages to claim it back and ended up WAY more hassle than it was worth. Lucky he took loads of pictures on pick up and return etc - Some kind of dodgy scam/numbers game etc. His credit card company said it's common for them to try it with most punters and some of them don't notice/corporate credit cards etc....

Check all paperwork, check insurance etc - You'll spend a fortune on the insurance/excess insurance.....

Honestly - I wouldn't bother... Tons to do and stressing about someone else hitting you/bumping into you would be nightmare.

What about a helicopter trip to the GC? Lots of companies are doing a heli plus champagne picnic. About 4hrs and around £300 - £500 person dependant on company and package.

Shooting range - would be cool. But would deffo be finding a couple of evening shows too.

I think helicopter tours from vegas go to the west rim which some would say is not the ‘proper’ Grand Canyon. You can get the bus to the south rim (which is where people say is the ‘proper’ Grand Canyon) as they and it takes the whole day (crack of dawn to late in the evening). I’ve not been to either but I can’t imagine they are particularly different, it’s a big hole in the ground at the end of the day.

Gun ranges are great, I went to the one on Tropicana Avenue - the name escapes me. Battlefield near the Wynn is meant to be good also.

Shows are great, I’ve seen quite a few (Cirque, Penn & Teller, adult stuff) - all were great. Some had audience participation so bear in mind where you sit if you don’t want to take part. You can get tickets on the day from a tix4tonight booth but I’d expect only the ‘cheap seats’ will be left. That said all the theatres are purpose built and there isn’t usually any restricted views. Availability varies if buying on the day so if you definitely want to see something specific like, I’d book in advance.

One thing you can't plan for is the Jet lag! Hope you dont suffer from it too badly. It took me 3 days to be able to sleep until 8am, and last until midnight. First few days i could not stay awake and wanted to go to bed at 6pm, and awake at 3am :(
Trip looks fab, Caesars is nice!
Jetlag doesn't really affect me, my sleep pattern is not fixed anyway.

Weekdays I sleep from midnight till 7am
Weekends I sleep from 4am till 10am so my body is used to fluxuating cycles. My wife is the same.

you can't fly to the GC from Vegas by helicopter only the West Canyon (west rim) though I'm sure it would still be a great day
