Hi Guys

Just got my Macbook and been playing with it :)

Fantastic bit of kit, already ordered a 2gb RAM upgrade....

One thing I noticed next to my XP laptop is that OcUK forum (example) font looks like it's in bold or slighty blurred??

It has a fresh copy of Leopard on it?

Is this right? If so fine I can live with it :D

Thanks

imo the font smoothing in os x is far inferior to that in windows, it looks far too blurred and bold, whereas windows' one is much more readable.

i'm used to the mac font-look now but i must admit i still think windows does it better, i think windows manages to stay truer to the original fonts...

I need to sit down and start reading as much as I can, as I'm a total novice when it comes to Mac's but I'm eager to learn as much as I can as soon as I can :)

I'll be about in the Mac forums lots now asking stuff and reading up!!

Unless you're using extensions then Safari > Firefox *on Leopard*

You are forgiven though, you're a switcher :p;)

While I'd have agreed 6 months ago, I just can't handle the UI in Camino.

The fact it was still in beta when I tried it put me off a little as well.. too many bug fixes and thus updates needed for my primary browser to stop me ditching FF; so I went Safari.

Flame me, but I prefer IE7 (using fusion and unity) on my new macbook. OWA just doesnt work very well on anything else.

Works fine in Firefox under mac osx for me.
and just tried it in safari and its also fine.
just tried in IE7 admittedly interface is better.

I configured Mail to use with my OWA account so i dont check it much online anyway.

maybe you can set up a Mail account as well, having it go straight to the inbox on comp is so much more convenient then having to login online.

owa as in outlook web access? it's all down to personal preference, and I'm probably biased as a web developer/designer but Microsoft products on the web are a very bad and irritating thing. the fact that their web based products, as you say, don't work very well on everything else just goes to show that
