Went into argos today and got a blender to make smoothies with as i'm going on a raw vegan diet. However it doesn't do food processing like chopping and grating so going to take it back tommorow. Can someone offer any impartial advice as to which to get? Are the processors that offer both blending and processing just as good as seperate machines? It seems the more expensive processors all offer blending functions.

Here's what I brought :-

Here's a shortlist of processor i'm thinking of replacing it for :-

Do the more expensive ones off anything that the lesser price ones don't? Only using it for myself so don't necesarily need a huge one.

A vegan who says they don't want this is lying.

I don't want that. Been eating **** like that for most my life. I'm 35 now and feeling the consequences of it and want to live past 55 and not die of heart disease.

I mean what looks more life giving, that **** above or this :-

If going Vegan is purely for health reasons its not acctually as good as you think.

Men need meat.

That's debatable. I've done it before for a week and felt much better than on a meat diet. Now doing it for good but want a processor to chop veg and greens up to make it easier to ingest.

I'm going to take a stab in the dark here and guess that you didn't just replace the meat with a veggie substitute, but you had a totally different meal?

that's not to say it's pointless though, if it makes you feel better/adopt better eating habits then it's all good..

Mainly just nuts, salad and fruit.

Buy the best one you can afford. The £105 one looks fine and should see you through. What you don't want to do is to spend £65 on a cheapo one and find you have to replace it later when it burns out. I might also recommend white, because silver is a faddy colour. It's like the brown of the 1970's and in 20 years you'll wish you hadn't got it in that colour :D

Was thinking about going for the £75 reduced from £100. Not exactly cheap. Seems to do 90% everything the more expensive ones do but is more compact?

PS Never notiecd there was a food forum in OCUK

Just go to a shop and have a look at it. The problem with some of the machines is they cut corners to get more 'features' in. Spie was looking at a multi food processor that looked amazing on paper and impressive in the videos, great price, but when I had a play with one in John Lewis it really felt like they had cut corners on the materials, buttons etc. Then someone on here said their own one had broken something off and the weighing function had failed.

It's Argos. They don't have the products on display.

You can ask for a 'customer viewing' of the product where they will bring it out before you pay any money and you can open the wrapping and have a look at the product before you decide whther you want to buy it.

Most John Lewis shops have typically got a good selection of food processors.

Went to John Lewis and found a real bargain.

Argos are selling this for £240

I'm surprised that people think making it to 55 is an achievement. My grandad smoke and drank his way up to 82, so I am sure my considerably healthier-than-his living will see me hit 90 (plus the advances of medicine).

Your Grandad probably ate a much healthier diet than we do today. A tomatoe today only has 1/7th of the Vitamin C and other nutrients than from one just 50 years ago because of GM engineering, toxic pesticides and industrial farming.
