Food supply for a month £30?

Asda Smart Price Stuff, Or Lidl in general.

It's not going to be overly healthy, but you can buy plenty of food really.

As said, tinned tomatoes, You can make some lovely pasta sauces. Tuna and Potatoes.

I lived on about 40 quid a month for quite a while. No choice :D

PIZZA! very cheap.

Bread flour 1.5kg 80p will make many bases worth.
Yeast 20p.
Can of chopped toms(30p) + teaspoon garlic puree for your sauce.
Grated cheese is quite cheap just now.

Big whopping C & T pizza for about 60p then add any other toppings.

Some people here have come up with really good answers but one i'd add is...hotdogs!

Really cheap source of protein.

Wow.. I live on my own, and I spend more than £1 pound a day on non alcoholic drinks a day, let alone food.

It's a real pain living in your own when it comes to food. I enjoy cooking but cooking for one most nights is a pain. Normally I don't eat breakfast as its always made me feel ill, I have a meal at work; I work in a college and have a school dinner. Then when it comes to tea if I'm not cooking, I'm calling a take away. I'm not a fan of the ready meals, I guess I'm rubbish at planning my meals, defrosting stuff ready.

A lot of the fruit and vegs I get end up in the bin or in my hamster cage, supermarkets don't really cater for people living on their own, tesco had an offer 3 for 2 in 500g grapes. How in gods kitchen am I going to eat that much grapes before they go off!

Any how, good luck to the OP.. I don't tend to look a the prices when food shopping but to me that's an impossible task.

5kg bag of oats
Bags of value frozen mixed veg
beans
Bread
Pasta
Tuna
Value frozen pizzas

Can be done, but its certainly not a diet you should be following for more than a few months.

Main meal for a pound.

A rasher of bacon or bacon bits, two medium mushrooms, half an onion. Cut up and fry in a teaspoonful of oil.

Add a handful of frozen veg, green beans and peppers or whatever. Stir fry.

Cook a half mug of rice for 8-10 minutes.

Crack an egg, beat and divide in two for two days.

Put rice and beaten egg in with bacon and vegetables, stir and cook for a few minutes.

Season with a dash of soy or pepper sauce if available and serve.

A bit boring after a few days but ten pounds should buy enough for a week or two. You can vary the veg and seasoning as to what is cheap.

Just lick your TV screen whenever 'River Cottaging Celebrity Hell's Master Chef on Ice with Jamie' or one of the other thousands of cookery programmes that's on TV nowadays, that will fool your brain into thinking you have eaten and should keep you sustained forever.

A pound a day? Double cheeseburger?

The thought of a pound a day makes me hungry. I spent 5 today at lunch in tesco.

...hotdogs! Really cheap source of protein.

And hog anus!

Or more likely mechanically recovered meat. I would rather eat the tin they come in.

Does the op have any nice divorcee milf neighbour who might take pity on them? Failing that pasta and tuna have always sustained me through lean times but never at that budget :o.
