Food - Would you send it back if it was poor etc?

It must have been a pretty dire restaurant if they couldn't get sausage and mash right!!

I'm a bit dubious about claims that complaining will result in "bodily fluids" in your food. There's far too many people around for anyone to get away with that and I can't imagine any chef risking their job for something like that.

I probably wouldn't complain but I don't like confrontation and certainly not when I'm trying to have a relaxing meal out. I wouldn't eat there again though.

That's nothing. Its veal thats harsh.

I think we've been here before on this forum. Vast numbers of male calves are killed simply because they can't be used for milk production. Surely we might as well eat them?

.

I think now with the majority of chain pubs it's unlikely, in a small individual pub I'd say it's fairly possible. Places like Wetherspoons/Brewers Fayre etc it's extremely unlikely.

No, its the bringing them up in the dark and feeding them only milk that I dont agree with.

No, you'll have to explain i'm afraid :(

Well a guy ordered a sandwich and sent it back saying the bread was stale. So the chef (who is a nut) put a both pieces of bread down his pants while he prepped some food - no skin contact, just between pants and trousers. :p

Then he made another sandwich with the same bread and the guy loved it.:eek:

That's not right...

He didn't want sugar on his toast or something like that? Jam? So he wiped it off and stuck it down his trousers to keep it warm..i think?

:o

If the meal will cost less than £100 there is no way I would complain as you simply can't trust these people. Yes, it DOES happen!

I only really complain if my food has been screwed up, not if it's bad. For example, I was in Wetherspoons a couple of months ago and the guy on the till was new so managed to forget that I'd told him 5 times I didn't want salad on my burger and that I did want cheese. I complained when it came out, but then when it came back and the salad (beetroot and tomato, stuff that leaves a taste) had just been scraped off and there was still no cheese, I asked for a refund because I'd likely really annoyed the kitchen staff by that point.

If it's something that they've just got completely wrong and aren't likely to redeem themselves on, I don't bother unless it's expensive.

I would have no problem complaining wether in a pub or restaurant, if you are paying for food you expect it to be a certain standard. I once ordered a pie which came still frozen solid in the middle. Should I have just got on with it because it was in a pub?

Depends on the place. Usually let the missus finish her's, then get a refund. had one waiter argue to the point the chef told him he was a **** and that they had just sacked someone for it a few weeks ago. Funnily enough, I haven't been back there.

Have also asked for a refund, been asked why, and then invited into the kitchen to watch it being made. I have been back there (Food is usually good by pub standards, I now know the chef and he gets my Steak spot on)
