I can't stand that damn ref, he really is an absolute plank.
He's a drama queen, how many times did he full on encourage time wasting and argueing rather than getting on with the game.
Was it Suarez in the corner who had a rant at the assistant ref, instead of either getting on with the game, or giving a yellow, he blew the whistle about eleventy billion times, walked over very slowly, called Evra over(who'd done nothing, complained about nothing and was just trying to take a throw in) spoke at length to both, no yellow, eventually ran off and played on.
WHile the Rafael/Skrtel argy bargy was going on he just backed off stood there and waited.
He always does that, he always calls people over for a long talk without carding the player, he turns things into situations when they aren't, he loves it when he's the centre of attention and loves it when he has a chance to slow a game down and be on camera talking, or at least thats how he always comes across.
I think one of the things the ref did with that behaviour was almost encourage the players to get more wound up. Suarez, whistle, tell him to shut it, play on, done. Caragher, give the card, hurry up about it, play on. Instead he stood there acting like he wasn't sure what he was going to do, letting all the players try to change his mind, Evra, a couple Utd players and loads of Liverpool players surrounding him, give the card and they'll shut up, instead he lets this stuff build up.
Meant to have a go at him earlier, I think this every single time he ref's a match, he's the single ref who I think prefers camera time and being "the man" more than any other, horrendous ref.
Anyway, Merson, other than Suarvez as he called him, he had a point, Carroll over Maxi "the invisible" Rodrigez could only have improved the team, frankly Utd were asking for a spanking today and I think Carroll over Maxi would be the way to go. Probably Kuyt left and Gerrard right though, but Merson has damaged a lot of brain cells.
Also Merson came up with the line of the season during the Wigan/West Ham game, midway through the second half Jeff asked him what was going on "I think they've swapped shirts at half time", brilliant.
