Why would you have to re-take it? As far as I'm aware there's nothing in the rules that states that you can't do that.

Maybe he meant for the encroachment? the defender was only about 4yrds away when the ball was eventually struck.
He only moved when the second last guy went over the ball, that guy had to have touched it as it's an indirect fk
Even if that were the case then the ref would probably just play advantage seeing as the ball is in the back of the net.
It had to be an indirect freekick as it was in the penalty area, the ball has to be touched (and if I remember correctly complete 1 full revolution for it to count as a touch) by someone to count as in play.
In this case as it didn't complete the full revolution and was hammered in by the 'taker' it should've been given as a goal kick because it didn't take a touch off any of the defenders or keeper.
